<p><strong>Parliament Monsoon Session:</strong> The upcoming monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to commence on 21 July and conclude on 12 August 2025. Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, made the announcement on Wednesday. This session will last for 23 days and is expected to see discussions on several crucial bills and national issues.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Expected Discussions</h2>



<p>According to available information, the government may introduce the Insurance Amendment Bill during this session. This bill proposes increasing the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) limit in the insurance sector to 100 percent. Furthermore, an impeachment motion against former Delhi High Court judge, Yashwant Verma may also be brought forward. The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs will discuss this with leaders from all parties.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Opposition Demands</h2>



<p>The opposition has demanded discussions on national security issues such as ‘Operation Sindur’ and the Pehlgam attack during this session. The Congress and other opposition parties have also sought the government&#8217;s response on issues like the Manipur violence, unemployment, inflation, and recent train accidents. Opposition leaders had demanded a special session on these issues, but Rijiju clarified that all matters will be openly discussed during the monsoon session as per the rules.</p>

<p>The Economic Survey and Budget, to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, will also be closely watched during the session. Delhi&#39;s AAP Leaders Manish Sisodia and Jain Entangled in ₹2000 Crore Scam Allegation


<p>A new corruption scandal has embroiled two senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi ministers, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has summoned both leaders for questioning in connection with an alleged ₹2,000 crore scam related to classroom construction in Delhi government schools. Sisodia has been asked to appear on June 9th, and Jain on June 6th.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Understanding the Case</h2>



<p>The ACB&#8217;s FIR, registered in April 2025, alleges significant financial irregularities in the construction of 12,748 classrooms in Delhi schools during the Arvind Kejriwal government&#8217;s tenure. The project cost totalled ₹2,892 crore, resulting in a per-classroom cost of ₹24.86 lakh. This is significantly higher than the government-approved cost of approximately ₹5 lakh per classroom.</p>



<p>The ACB alleges that the construction work was awarded to 34 contractors, most of whom were allegedly linked to the AAP. Furthermore, the semi-permanent structures (SPS) used, with an estimated lifespan of 30 years, were costed the same as permanent Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) structures with a lifespan of approximately 75 years. This resulted in a clear disparity in cost and quality.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Investigation Uncovers Layers of the Scam</h2>



<p>According to the ACB, the project&#8217;s initial estimated cost of ₹860.63 crore increased by 17% to 90%. Approximately ₹205 crore of this increased cost was attributed to ‘enhanced specifications’, representing 24% of the original bid price. However, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) guidelines mandate a new tender for such increases, which was not followed.</p>



<p>Additionally, work worth approximately ₹42.5 crore in some schools was carried out based on old contracts without proper tendering procedures. The ACB also stated that the appointment of consultants and architects was also done without a transparent process.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CVC Report&#8217;s Revelations Raise Political Temperatures</h2>



<p>The ACB stated that the CVC&#8217;s Chief Technical Examiner (CTE) report highlighted serious violations of CPWD Manual 2014, GFR 2017, and CVC guidelines. However, this report remained suppressed for approximately three years, raising further suspicion. This matter has created a storm in political circles. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has demanded that the ACB investigate the role of then-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The investigation was initiated based on complaints from BJP leaders Harish Khurana, Kapil Mishra, and Neelkant Bakshi.</p>



<p>The ACB clarified that the investigation is not limited to the two leaders but will also thoroughly investigate the roles of unknown officials, contractors, and others associated with the AAP. The ACB stated that only after uncovering the layers of collusion and conspiracy in the entire matter will the culprits be brought to justice. This case not only involves a scam investigation but also raises questions about the transparency and credibility of the Delhi government school education system. It remains to be seen what conclusions the investigation will reach and what the political and legal consequences will be.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Aam Aadmi Party Calls it a Political Conspiracy</h2>



<p>On the other hand, the Aam Aadmi Party termed the alleged ₹2,000 crore scam in schools a political conspiracy, denying any wrongdoing. The AAP alleged that when the AAP government was in power in Delhi, the BJP weakened the ACB by stripping it of its powers. Now, this weakened institution is being used against AAP leaders. The AAP alleges that the BJP is targeting AAP leaders to stay in power through lies.</p>

<p><strong>COVID-19 Cases in India:</strong> Coronavirus cases are once again rising in India. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in India on Wednesday is 4,302. Approximately 300 new COVID cases were registered in India in the last 24 hours, with the highest number of cases reported from Kerala. Meanwhile, two more COVID-related deaths were recorded in the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths this year to seven. In the last 48 hours, 21 people have died.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>7 Deaths in 24 Hours</strong></h2>



<p>Seven patients died in the last 24 hours. Four deaths occurred in Maharashtra: (1) a 55-year-old male, (2) a 73-year-old elderly person, (3) a 23-year-old girl, and (4) a 27-year-old young man. A 76-year-old elderly person died in Tamil Nadu. One patient also died in Gujarat. A 22-year-old girl died in Delhi.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">86 New Cases Reported in Maharashtra</h2>



<p>The health department reported that a total of 86 new coronavirus positive cases were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections since January 1st this year to 959. Of these, 435 patients have recovered, while 510 are active cases. Four patients have died in the state since Monday, including two deaths in Nagpur, and one each in Chandrapur and Miraj.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cases Rise Due to Four New Variants</h2>



<p>Four new variants are behind the recent surge in COVID cases. According to a news agency, the surge in COVID-19 cases this year is due to four variants – LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1. NB.1.8.1 is a new COVID-19 subvariant found in India.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kerala Health Department Issues COVID-19 Guidelines</h2>



<p>In view of the increase in COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the state health department has issued guidelines to hospitals and healthcare workers. It has also instructed government and private hospitals to conduct mock drills. The Kerala Health Department will provide a Google Form to conduct online mock drills.</p>

<p><strong>Jhabua Road Accident:</strong> News of a horrific road accident has emerged from Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. Nine villagers travelling in an Eeco vehicle died after being hit by a tanker in the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. A young woman and a child sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment. All the villagers were from nearby villages and were returning from a wedding ceremony.</p>



<p>The incident reportedly occurred near the Sajeli crossing on the Meghnagar-Thandla road. A railway overbridge is under construction a short distance away. According to the police, nine villagers from Shivgarh Mahuda village in the Thandla area and two from Devigarh had attended a wedding ceremony in Manpura village near Kalyanpura. They were returning in an Eeco vehicle (GJ 09 BL 5956) when a tanker (RJ 09 GC 7915) suddenly appeared from the opposite direction near the Sajeli crossing. The tanker rammed into the Eeco vehicle carrying the villagers, resulting in the immediate death of nine of them.</p>



<p>The Eeco vehicle was severely damaged in the collision. Extracting the bodies proved challenging. The tanker driver fled the scene after the accident. Upon receiving information about the incident, SP Padma Vilokan Shukla arrived at the scene and gave necessary instructions to the Thandla and Meghnagar police station in-charges.</p>

<p>Chasing a target of 191 runs in Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings could only manage 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Shashank Singh scored the highest unbeaten 61 runs for Punjab, while Josh Inglis scored 39 runs. For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya took two wickets each. <p><strong>Chhattisgarh Waqf Board:</strong> The Chhattisgarh State Waqf Board chairman, Dr. Salim Raj has issued an order for all Waqf institutions—mosques, madrasas, and dargahs—and their Mutawallis.</p>



<p>The order states that Imams and Maulanas in Chhattisgarh can no longer charge exorbitant fees for performing Nikah ceremonies. The permissible fee is now capped at ₹1100 as Nazrana or gift.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reason Behind the Decision</h2>



<p>Dr. Salim Raj had received complaints that some Imams/Maulanas had demanded ₹5100 to perform a Nikah ceremony and refused to proceed if the amount wasn&#8217;t paid. Taking these complaints seriously, Dr. Raj issued the order limiting the fee to ₹1100 across the state.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Action to be Taken</h2>



<p>Islamic Sharia also mandates simplifying the Nikah process. With over 800 Imams and Maulanas performing Nikah ceremonies across the state, any violation of this order or further complaints against any Imam or Maulana will result in action being taken.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Salim Raj&#8217;s Statement</h2>



<p>Salim Raj stated that the primary aim of this order is to provide relief to the most backward and impoverished sections of society. ₹5100 is a significant amount for a poor family, requiring considerable effort to earn. This order rectifies an anomaly and ensures that poor families do not have to pay exorbitant Nazrana fees for Nikah ceremonies.</p>

<p><strong>Bihar Vacancy on 4799 posts:</strong> Big news for Bihar&#8217;s youth! The Bihar government is set to fill more than 4,000 vacancies across various departments. A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar approved the creation of approximately 4,799 posts across different departments. The highest number of recruitments, 2361 posts, will be in the Education Department.</p>



<p>Under this Bihar government decision, the second highest number of recruitments, 1350 posts, will be in the Urban Development and Housing Department. All drafts related to recruitment were approved in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Additional Chief Secretary Provides Information</h2>



<p>Following the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. S. Siddhartha stated that the Education Department will have 935 Assistant Education Officers and 568 Education Development Officers, totalling 1503 posts. Furthermore, aiming to develop a robust administrative structure at the block level, one inspection officer post will be created for an average of 10 panchayats. The number of Assistant Education Officers will be created based on the number of panchayats, and the number of Education Development Officers based on the number of educational blocks.</p>



<p>Additionally, 818 posts at various levels have been approved in the Bihar Education Project Council. To verify land, collect land details, and protect land in government schools, educational institutions, or offices within the Education Department, 2 Land Property Officers and 38 Assistant Land Property Officers posts have been created. Recruitment for these posts will also commence soon.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Recruitment in Urban Development and Housing Department</h2>



<p>The Urban Development and Housing Department will recruit for 1350 posts. Creating 1350 posts, 147 posts have been re-appropriated in 7 planning area authorities: Bodh Gaya, Gaya, Rajgir, Bihar Sharif, Ara, Muzaffarpur, and Saharsa.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Recruitment for 653 Posts in Rural Development Department</h2>



<p>The Rural Development Department will recruit for 653 posts under the Bihar State Jeevika Nidhi Sahakari Sangh Limited. This includes 43 state-level posts, 76 district-level posts (2 posts per district), and 534 block-level posts.</p>



<p>390 posts have been created under the Women and Child Development Corporation of the Social Welfare Department at the headquarters, corporation, district, and sub-divisional levels. The General Administration Department will have 15 posts, and the PHE Department will have 28. Two driver posts have been created in the Raj Bhavan Secretariat.</p>

<p><strong>Dipika Kakar Liver Cancer:</strong> Big news has emerged concerning Dipika Kakar, one of television&#8217;s famous actresses. Dipika has been diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent surgery on Tuesday. Shoaib Ibrahim has provided an update on his wife&#8217;s health, stating that she is currently in the ICU and that the surgery lasted approximately 14 hours. He has requested prayers for her.</p>

<p>Shoaib Ibrahim posted an update on Wednesday, 4 June. He wrote, apologising, “I couldn&#8217;t update you last night. It was a very long surgery. Dipika was in the OT for 14 hours, but Alhamdulillah, everything went well. Dipika is currently in the ICU. She is experiencing some pain, but her condition is stable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your love, prayers, and support. I will provide an update when I come out of the ICU. Thank you once again. Please keep praying for Dipika.”</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dipika Kakar Liver Tumor Surgery </h2>



<p>Dipika Kakar is currently battling stage 2 liver cancer. She recently revealed that she initially experienced normal stomach pain, but when the pain intensified, she consulted a doctor. Tests revealed a tennis ball-sized tumour in her abdomen, which was diagnosed as cancerous. Dipika further stated that it is stage 2 liver cancer, which was detected early. Doctors have indicated that treatment is possible at this stage.</p>

<p>Dipika Kakar&#8217;s surgery was initially scheduled for an earlier date, but it was postponed due to a deterioration in her condition, including fever, abdominal pain, and anxiety.
