
<p><strong>CUET UG 2025 Registration Last Date:</strong> The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the last date for online registration for CUET UG 2025. Applicants can now apply until 24 March. The correction window for the CUET form will be open from 26 to 28 March. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pay Fees by 25th</h2>



<p>Applications for the <a href="https://www.patrika.com/education-news/cuet-pg-admit-card-2025-release-exam-nta-ac-in-19477410" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CUET</a> can now be submitted until 24 March 2025. <p>For the CUET UG form, general category candidates will have to pay ₹1,000 for three subjects, while OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates will have to pay ₹900. For SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender candidates, the fee is ₹800. The application fee for foreign students is set at ₹4,500.</p>



<p>Applicants should note that the application fee will be paid online through net banking/credit card/debit card. Processing fees and GST will be charged by the respective bank/payment gateway integrator (in addition to the examination fee).</p>

UP police leave cancelled, alert issued in Bihar, Maharashtra and other states


<p>Tension is mounting across India over the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Even before its presentation in the Lok Sabha on 2 April 2025, anticipated protests have put police forces in several states on high alert. Security has been tightened in major states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Police leave has been cancelled, and officers on leave have been recalled to duty. The government is taking no chances, given the opposition from Muslim organisations and opposition parties, leading to widespread arrangements to maintain law and order across the nation.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heightened Surveillance in Uttar Pradesh</h2>



<p>Uttar Pradesh is showing the most vigilance regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. The state&#8217;s DGP has ordered all police officers and personnel to remain vigilant. Police conducted flag marches in Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur, and other sensitive cities the previous night to prevent any untoward incidents. Sensitive areas are being monitored using drones, and CCTV cameras are tracking all activity. Following reports of inflammatory posts and threats against the bill on social media, the police have also activated their cyber cells. A heavy police presence has been deployed, particularly outside areas like Kanpur&#8217;s orphanage, where protests are anticipated.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">High Alert in Bihar</h2>



<p>In Bihar too, the police administration has geared up in anticipation of potential protests against the Waqf Bill. The deployment of security forces has been increased in Patna and other major cities. Organisations like the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) have already staged large protests against the bill, joined by opposition leaders such as Tejashwi Yadav and Lalu Prasad Yadav. Given the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, this issue has become even more sensitive. <p>A man died under suspicious circumstances at Arjun police station in Chhattisgarh. Police had brought him from Rajnandgaon for questioning in connection with a ₹7.73 crore fraud case involving farmers. The deceased, Durghesh Katholia (41), had injury marks on his body. His family alleges that the police demanded a bribe of ₹50 lakh. Following the incident, Arjun TI Sunny Dubey has been suspended with immediate effect.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CG News: Crores of Rupees Defrauded from Over 50 Farmers</h2>



<p>A post-mortem examination was conducted in the presence of Chief Judicial Magistrate Namita Minj Bhaskar. It is noteworthy that the TI had previously faced allegations of assault. According to reports, Durghesh Katholia (41), a resident of Bhanwarmara village in Rajnandgaon district, was taken into custody from his village on 29 March by Dhamtari police. More than 50 farmers have filed a complaint at Arjun police station accusing him of defrauding them of ₹7.73 crore.</p>



<p>The deceased&#8217;s father, Lakshman Katholia, mother, Sushila Katholia, and wife, Durga Katholia, stated that their son was brutally beaten when taken from their home. They later received news of his death. Upon reaching Dhamtari, they were initially prevented from seeing the body. After permission for a post-mortem was granted, they found injury marks on his legs, shoulders, ribs, abdomen, thighs, and other parts of his body. They allege that their son was already dead before they were informed.</p>



<p>Police claim that Durghesh&#8217;s health deteriorated. They state that the accused was arrested at 4:20 PM on 31 March and presented before the court. Subsequently, he was taken into police remand. While being taken to the police station at 6 PM, his health deteriorated, and he was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hospital Protest</h2>



<p>As soon as news of Durgesh’s death reached the family, they rushed to Dhamtari. The family accused the police of brutally beating him and demanded action against Arjuni TI and the officers involved in his detention. The hospital remained tense from noon to 5 p.m. MLA Omkar Sahu, the district president, and other Congress leaders also arrived at the hospital.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Details of the Case</h2>



<p><strong>CG News:</strong> Police reported that the accused, Durghesh Katholia, a resident of Bhanwarmara, defrauded farmers of a total of ₹7.73 crore by promising to sell their paddy at higher prices. Investigations revealed that he had committed similar frauds in Balod, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, and Balaghat. A prior case has been registered against him at Basantpur police station in Rajnandgaon.</p>



<p>Manishankar Chandra, ASP: The SP has suspended Arjun police station in-charge Sunny Dubey. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report. A magisterial inquiry is underway.</p>

<p><strong>Good News for Pregnant Women and Malnourished Children:</strong> Malnourished children will now receive 25 grams of milk powder five days a week, incorporated into their nutritional supplements. Pregnant women will receive a <em>Supposhan Nutri Kit</em> containing 1 kg of ghee, along with makhana (fox nuts), dates, and other nutritious items. The Women and Child Development Department has begun preparations and submitted the budget proposal to the Finance Department. Officials expect the increased milk powder for children and the kits for pregnant women to be distributed from July.</p>



<p>Currently, the department provides malnourished children with 15 grams of milk powder as part of their nutritional supplements. Last month, the Chief Minister announced an increase of 10 grams, prompting the department to process the necessary paperwork. Upon approval, malnourished children will receive 25 grams of milk powder. Approximately 70,000 malnourished children aged 6 months to 5 years will benefit from this initiative. Officials estimate an annual expenditure of approximately ₹3.5 crore.</p>

These kits will be provided twice during the 5th to 9th months of pregnancy. Officials estimate that this initiative will benefit approximately 2.5 lakh pregnant women at a cost of approximately ₹25 crore.</p>

<p>The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released the admit cards for the class 10th and 12th board examinations. Students appearing for the examination can download it from the official website <a href="nios.ac.in">nios.ac.in</a>. According to NIOS, the 10th and 12th examinations will commence on 9th April 2025 and conclude on 19th May 2025. <p><strong>Stephen Fleming on MS Dhoni:</strong> Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a six-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the 11th match of IPL 2025. When Dhoni came to bat at number 7, CSK needed 54 runs from 25 balls. Dhoni could only manage 16 runs from 11 balls, and CSK lost the match. After the match, CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed that MS cannot bat at full strength for 10 overs due to a knee problem. CSK also lost to RCB by 50 runs in Chepauk. In that match, Dhoni faced criticism for batting at number 9. Now, a shocking report claims that, according to the coach, Dhoni will only play six more matches this season.</p>

The film failed to make a strong impression even on its opening day, and the third-day collection was extremely disappointing. The audience response appears to be underwhelming, with viewers expressing disappointment with Salman&#8217;s performance and the storyline. This is why the film&#8217;s earnings have declined even after Eid. According to <strong>Sacnilk</strong>, the film ‘Sikandar’ earned less than ₹20 crore on Tuesday, the day after Eid.</p>

<p><strong>New Zealand vs Pakistan 2nd ODI Highlights:</strong> New Zealand has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, following their 4-1 victory in the five-match T20 series. New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 84 runs in the second ODI played in Hamilton. Batting first, New Zealand posted 292 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. In response, Pakistan lost 5 wickets within just 32 runs and were eventually bowled out for 208.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Zealand Post 292 Runs</h2>



<p>Asked to bat first after losing the toss, New Zealand scored 292 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. Mitchell contributed the highest score of 99 runs for New Zealand, with the help of 7 fours and 7 sixes. He missed his first century by just 1 run. Mohammad Abbas also played a valuable innings of 41 runs. For Pakistan, Wasim and Sufiyan took two wickets each.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ben Sears Takes Five-Wicket Haul</h2>



<p>Chasing a target of 293 runs, Pakistan’s innings got off to a disastrous start. They lost five crucial wickets within just 32 runs and were eventually bowled out for a paltry 208. For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf scored 73 and Naseem Shah 51 runs, the only two batsmen to reach fifty. Eight Pakistani batsmen failed to reach double figures. For New Zealand, Ben Sears took a five-wicket haul, while Jacob Duffy claimed three wickets.</p>

<p>Newly elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has initiated a new scheme to provide clean drinking water to the capital&#8217;s residents at affordable rates. Under this scheme, five thousand water ATMs will be installed across Delhi to provide clean drinking water to the general public. The scheme will be implemented under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. Separately, the Delhi Jal Board has increased infrastructure charges for water and sewer connections, effective from April 1st.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Focus on Crowded Markets in the First Phase</h2>



<p>In the first phase, these water ATMs will be installed in major commercial hubs, markets, and crowded areas of Delhi. Subsequently, ATMs will be installed in areas lacking piped water infrastructure. This will reduce reliance on water tankers in these areas and provide clean drinking water for daily needs. Delhi&#8217;s Water Minister Pravesh Verma stated, “The government will not only provide water through water ATMs, but is also exploring the possibility of incorporating a plastic bottle return facility in these machines. This will allow used bottles to be recycled and reused, thereby reducing plastic pollution.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Local Participation Crucial in Water ATM System</h2>



<p>The government&#8217;s plan will also ensure the participation of local market associations and RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations). This will ensure the security of the water ATMs and curb vandalism. However, the rates for obtaining water from the ATMs are yet to be finalised.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Delhi Jal Board Increases Infrastructure Charges</h2>



<p>In another significant development, the Delhi Jal Board has increased infrastructure charges for water and sewer connections. These rates came into effect on April 1st. Previously, the charge for a water connection in residential areas was ₹243.11, which the BJP government has increased to ₹255.27 per square foot. Similarly, the sewer connection charge has increased from ₹145.87 to ₹153.16 per square foot.</p>



<p>BJP leaders say that this government scheme will not only provide Delhi residents with access to clean water but will also be a positive step towards environmental protection and reducing plastic waste. If implemented with proper monitoring and maintenance, this scheme could bring about a significant change in Delhi&#8217;s water management.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scheme Initiated Under Previous Government as Well</h2>



<p>This is not the first time such a decision has been taken in the national capital. Previously, the Aam Aadmi Party government had also initiated work on this. In July 2024, the AAP government launched the scheme with four water ATMs, all installed in slum areas to provide clean drinking water.</p>



<p>The then-AAP government had announced plans to install 500 water ATMs under this scheme, but only four were installed. 2500 smart cards were also distributed to access water from these four ATMs. Smart card holders could access a maximum of 20 litres of water per day. Now, the BJP government has started work on a plan to install water ATMs on a larger scale.</p>
