
<p>The <strong>Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC)</strong> has announced the schedule for the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Service (PCS) Main Examination 2024. The examination will be held from 29 June to 2 July 2025 in Prayagraj and Lucknow districts. The exam will be conducted in two shifts daily. The first shift will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second shift from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.</p>

<p>Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Meeting: A meeting of the state cabinet was held on Tuesday at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Several important proposals were approved in this meeting, the most significant being the decision regarding former Agniveers.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">20% Reservation for Former Agniveers</h2>



<p>The meeting decided that former Agniveers will now be given 20 per cent reservation during recruitment in the UP Police and PAC. In addition, they have also been given special relaxation in the age limit. This proposal was put forward by the Home Department and was approved. This provision will be implemented by amending the recruitment rules. This decision will provide employment opportunities in the state police force to Agniveers who have completed their four years of service.</p>



<p>State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, while giving information about this, said that this decision is a major step towards encouraging youth and providing them with re-employment after serving the nation. Several other important decisions were also taken. The cabinet also approved the construction of Annapurna buildings, electricity supply facilities for Data Centre India Private Limited, and more than 10 proposals from other departments.</p>

<p>The draft of the ‘Urban Green Policy’ has also been given the green signal to promote greenery in cities. Under this, efforts will be made to develop green areas in urban areas.</p>

<p>Several important decisions were taken to attract investment in the state. The cabinet has approved proposals to give subsidies to five companies and issue a letter of comfort to one company. The Haldiram Snacks manufacturing project in Noida has been approved, in which the company will invest ₹662 crore.</p>

<p><strong>Corona Cases In India:</strong> Coronavirus cases are once again rising in India. Five deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, while active cases have increased to 4026. According to the Union Health Ministry, the five individuals who died had pre-existing serious illnesses. These deaths occurred in Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Worrying Situation in Maharashtra</h2>



<p>The situation in Maharashtra remains a cause for concern. 873 people have been infected in the state so far this year, with over 800 still active cases. Mumbai alone reported 20 new cases. West Bengal saw 44 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the state&#8217;s active cases to 331. The situation in Karnataka is also deteriorating, with 87 new cases bringing the number of active patients to 311.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Deaths in 24 Hours</h2>



<p>Among those who died yesterday was an 80-year-old man from Kerala suffering from pneumonia, diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. In Maharashtra, two women aged 70 and 73 died; both suffered from diabetes and hypertension. A 69-year-old woman died in Tamil Nadu, suffering from type-2 diabetes and Parkinson&#8217;s disease. A 43-year-old woman died in West Bengal, suffering from acute coronary syndrome, septic shock, and kidney failure. Previously, a 60-year-old woman in Delhi also died; she suffered from an intestinal ailment and later contracted COVID.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Symptoms of Sub-variant NB.1.8.1</h2>



<p>According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the current infection is caused by the Omicron sub-variant NB.1.8.1. It spreads rapidly but has low severity. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, headache, body ache, runny nose, and loss of appetite – similar to a common seasonal flu. Health experts have appealed for caution.</p>


<p>India is witnessing a resurgence in coronavirus cases. The number of active cases in the country has surpassed four thousand. Meanwhile, five infected individuals have died in the last 24 hours.</p>

Heavy rainfall alert in northeast India: IMD Forecasts Impact Across India


<p><strong>IMD Weather Update: </strong>The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of the country until 5 June 2025. This alert is particularly for the northeastern states, South India, and parts of central India. According to the meteorological department, the onset of the monsoon and the influence of a low-pressure area have intensified weather conditions in various regions of the country.</p>

<p>The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland from 3 to 5 June. The possibility of extremely heavy rainfall (over 20 centimetres) has also been predicted in some areas. Five people have already died in rain-related incidents, including landslides and drowning, in Meghalaya and Assam. The meteorological department has expressed concerns about an increased risk of floods and landslides in these states.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Monsoon&#8217;s Fury in South India</h2>



<p>Heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra until 5 June. A red alert was already issued for eight districts in Kerala, and heavy rainfall is still expected in many areas. A red alert has also been issued in coastal Karnataka, where incidents like landslides and floods have already been reported. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, as strong winds (40-50 km/hour) and high waves are anticipated.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Weather Conditions in Central and Northwest India</h2>



<p>Rain with thunderstorms and strong winds (50-70 km/hour) is likely in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha from 2 to 5 June. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds are also expected in Northwest India, particularly Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh from 2 to 3 June. Light rain and strong winds are also predicted for Delhi on 3 June.</p>

<p>According to IMD scientist S.D. Sanap, the intensity of rainfall will decrease in a few days, but the monsoon is expected to strengthen from 11-12 June.</p>

<p><strong>Pakistan Jailbreak:</strong> A shocking incident unfolded late Monday night in Karachi, Pakistan. 216 prisoners escaped from Malir District Jail, also known as &#8216;Bachcha Jail&#8217;, taking advantage of the chaos caused by a series of minor earthquakes. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city. According to jail authorities, Karachi experienced 9 to 11 minor tremors in the previous 48 hours, measuring between 2.6 and 3.6 on the Richter scale. These tremors weakened the jail&#8217;s outer wall. When prisoners were brought out of their cells for security reasons on Monday night, some inmates attacked guards, seized weapons, and breached the weakened wall to escape.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">78 Recaptured</h2>



<p>Sindh province&#8217;s Inspector General of Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, stated that approximately 2,000 prisoners were brought out for a headcount following the earthquakes. During this time, 213 prisoners escaped; 78 have been recaptured, while 138 remain at large. One prisoner died in the ensuing gunfire, and three Frontier Corps personnel and one jail employee were injured.</p>

<p>Videos circulating on social media show prisoners fleeing through the streets. In one video, two prisoners are heard saying they had been imprisoned for many years and were now free. <p>Indian Railways is introducing a new facility. First AC coaches will now provide blankets of a different colour for pets. Passengers travelling with pets in first AC coaches will be relieved to hear this news. They will no longer face any inconvenience or confusion regarding blankets. Indian Railways has decided to soon provide blankets of different colours for humans and pets to avoid any doubt about their use.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Passenger Concerns</h2>



<p>According to railway officials, passengers travelling in first AC coaches had long complained that passengers and pets were given the same blankets. There was often doubt whether the blanket given to a passenger had been previously used by an animal. Some passengers were hesitant to use the blankets.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Differently Coloured Blankets for Pets</h2>



<p>Keeping this problem in mind, the railways has now decided to provide blankets of a special colour for pets. This will provide mental satisfaction to passengers and will also increase transparency and reliability in railway services. It is being reported that this new system will be implemented soon and will be made mandatory in all first AC coaches.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Handwash Facility Now in Sleeper Coaches</h2>



<p>Following the example of AC coaches, the railways has also instructed that handwash facilities be provided in the toilets of sleeper coaches soon. The implementation of this will provide great relief to passengers in terms of hygiene.</p>

<p><strong>TikTok star Sana Yousaf shot dead in Islamabad:</strong> A shocking incident has taken place in Islamabad, Pakistan. 17-year-old social media influencer and TikTok star Sana Yousaf was shot dead in her home. This murder has shocked everyone, creating a climate of fear.</p>

<p>Police officials have released statements regarding Sana Yousaf&#8217;s murder. According to them, Sana was shot at close range by an unknown individual. The assailant entered Sana&#8217;s home disguised as a guest and fled the scene immediately after committing the murder. Media reports now suggest that Sana had a brief conversation with the suspected shooter outside her house shortly before the incident.</p>

<p>A police spokesperson stated that the suspect fired multiple shots. Sana was hit by two bullets and died at the scene.
