<p>A total of three Natural Disaster Response Force teams have been moved from Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad, comprising of 90 personnel. Three teams from Vadodara are also moving to Ahmedabad.</p>



<p>Thick plumes of smoke could be seen at the accident spot, and fire tenders have reached the spot. More details are awaited on the matter.</p>



<p>Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said, &#8220;Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on the highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action. Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families.&#8221;</p>



<p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to Gujarat&#8217;s Chief Minister, Home Minister and the Police Commissioner regarding the plane crash incident. He also assured to provide Central government assistance.</p>



<p>The Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, has given instructions to undertake immediate rescue and relief operations and immediate treatment of injured passengers in the wake of the Air India passenger plane crash in Ahmedabad on a war footing.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seat Near the Emergency Exit</h2>



<p>Ramesh&#8217;s seat was 11A, near the emergency exit. It is believed that when the plane hit the hostel, this door came loose, and he somehow fell to the ground nearby. He explained, &#8220;I was near the ground floor, where there was some space. I was able to get out from there. No one could probably get out from the front wall.&#8221;</p>

<p>A fire broke out shortly after the crash, burning his hands. Describing the horrific deaths he witnessed, he said, &#8220;I saw two air hostesses and many people die before my eyes.&#8221; Overcome with emotion, he was unable to contain his tears.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Details of the Accident</h2>



<p>Ramesh stated that he felt something strange a minute after takeoff. He said, &#8220;It felt like the plane was stuck. Then suddenly, green and white lights flashed. The pilots probably tried to pull up, but the plane went straight at high speed and hit the building.&#8221;</p>



<p>The Air India Dreamliner flight was heading to London, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members (including two pilots). The plane contained a large amount of flammable aviation fuel, which caused a massive fire after the impact. The raging fire and black smoke were visible from afar for several hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Extensive Damage to Medical Hostel</h2>



<p>The plane crashed into the B.J. Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad, causing significant loss of life. At least five MBBS students, a PG resident doctor, and the wife of a superspecialist doctor were killed. More than 60 medical students were injured.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">PM Modi&#8217;s Visit</h2>



<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the accident. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), &#8220;This tragedy is beyond words. My condolences are with all those affected during this sad time.&#8221; On Friday morning, he visited the crash site and met with the injured in the hospital.</p>

<p>The flight carried 169 Indian, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian national. The official death toll has not yet been finalised. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that the final figure will be released only after DNA testing. This accident has shaken not only the country but the entire world, with many families losing loved ones, while others, like Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, miraculously survived.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">126,000 Litres of Fuel Turned the Crash into a Fireball</h2>



<p>The plane became a fireball upon impact. The aircraft was carrying a full load of fuel, which ignited on impact. The plane&#8217;s total fuel capacity was reportedly 126,000 litres. Approximately 55,000 litres were needed for the flight to London. The plane was carrying extra fuel. Sometimes, planes are unable to land due to unforeseen circumstances and need to remain airborne, necessitating extra fuel.</p>

Rajasthan Govt to Transfer ₹400 Crore Today, Thousands to Benefit


<p>Rajasthan Government: A significant event is scheduled for Friday in Banswara, a tribal-dominated district of Rajasthan. This event is poised not only to transform the lives of millions of families but also potentially influence the state&#8217;s political trajectory. <p><strong>Karishma Kapoor Sanjay Kapur:</strong> Businessman and former husband of Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapur, passed away at the age of 53. His death was caused by a heart attack. He suffered the heart attack at the Guards Polo Club in England, where he was playing polo. During the game, Sanjay suddenly collapsed on the field. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.</p>



<p>Sanjay Kapur was a well-known industrialist and had a great passion for polo. His sudden demise is a great shock to his family, friends, and admirers. It should be noted that Sanjay Kapur was the former husband of Karishma Kapoor. Karishma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur were married in 2003. Their marriage was arranged by their families. The couple had two children from this marriage: a daughter, Samaira, and a son, Kiaan.</p>

<p><strong>Sunjay Kapur Dies </strong><span style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px"><strong>of Heart Attack:</strong> Sunjay Kapur was the eldest son-in-law of the Kapoor family in Bollywood</span>. He married Karishma Kapoor in 2003, but the couple later divorced. He has now died of a heart attack. Following his death, Karisma Kapoor&#8217;s sister Kareena  and her husband Saif Ali Khan visited the actress&#8217;s home. It is understood that after his divorce from Karishma, all ties were severed, but he regularly saw his children. Karishma and Sunjay have two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan.</p>

<p>The video of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan that has emerged was shared by the paparazzi. In the aftermath of Sunjay Kapur&#8217;s death, Kareena Kapoor, along with her husband and actor Saif Ali Khan, arrived at Karishma&#8217;s Mumbai residence in the middle of the night. Their sadness was evident on their faces. Kareena was seen with her head bowed in the car. Karishma Kapoor is yet to issue a statement regarding her former husband&#8217;s death.</p>

<p>Sunjay Kapur died of a heart attack. He suffered a heart attack while playing polo in England and fell from his horse. He was rushed to hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. This news was confirmed by Suhel Seth, who wrote on X, expressing his grief at Sunjay Kapur&#8217;s death: “Deeply saddened by the passing of Sanjay, who passed away this morning in England. A huge loss and deepest condolences to his family and his associates at Sona Comstar… Om Shanti.”</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Coins and Cannons Confirm Identity</h2>



<p>A recent study by Colombian experts confirmed the wreckage as that of the <i>San José</i>. Evidence includes silver coins from the Lima mint of 1707, Kangxi-era Chinese porcelain, and cannons dating back to 1665, all bearing historical markings. These findings indicate that this was indeed the ship that plied the Tierra Firme maritime route in the 18th century.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Who Owns the Treasure?</h2>



<p>Now, the real battle has begun—a fight over ownership of the treasure. Colombia claims it belongs to them as it was found in their territorial waters. Spain asserts that the ship was its property. Peru reminds everyone that the treasure represents the labour of its miners. Meanwhile, the company Sea Search Armada claims it located the wreck in 1981 and therefore deserves a share. The matter has now escalated into a $10 billion lawsuit.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Beyond History, a Debate on Heritage</h2>



<p>Experts believe this discovery is not just about wealth but also about historical heritage. It presents a rare opportunity to gain deeper insights into colonial maritime trade and routes. However, amidst the dazzling allure of the treasure, questions of history, rights, and justice have now come to the forefront.</p>

<p>Indian Railways: Jaipur. Infrastructure development, new lines, doubling, gauge conversion, and electrification works are being rapidly implemented to strengthen rail connectivity in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, the state has received another major gift from the central government. On Monday, the central government approved the final location survey for a new 96-kilometre railway line connecting Marwar Bagra (Jalore)-Sirohi-Swrupganj to enhance rail connectivity in the tribal-dominated region of the state.</p>



<p>Jalore is an important city in Rajasthan, located on the Samdari-Bhildi-Gandhidham rail route. Sirohi, the district headquarters, is located near Delhi-Ajmer-Abu Road-Ahmedabad. Regarding connecting the Sirohi district headquarters to the country&#8217;s railway network, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav (अश्विनी वैष्णव) stated that the long-standing demand to connect Sirohi to the rail network has now been fulfilled.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Avenues for Regional Development</h2>



<p>This will open new avenues for trade, employment, social inclusion, and regional development in the area. This is a strategically, economically, and socially crucial project that will take Rajasthan&#8217;s western region into a new era.</p>

<p>-Connecting Sirohi to the rail network will boost economic development in the region and improve the living standards of its residents. It will also create employment opportunities.<br>-Residents of this region will have access to rail services to major cities in Rajasthan, as well as larger cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.<br>-It will serve as a strategic link for the transportation of goods and passengers from border areas.<br>-The rail network will facilitate the transportation of marble, granite, cement, food grains, fertilisers, and other commercial goods.<br>-It will provide better connectivity to Samdari and border towns like Munabao with the Western DFC route, establishing better rail connectivity to Mumbai.</p>



<p>After Sirohi district is connected to the railway network, over 1 million people will benefit. Towns and villages in close proximity to Sirohi will particularly benefit. This includes Shivganj, Pindwara, Rewadar, Mandar, Kalandri, and villages in the Jawal area.</p>


<p>New Rail Project: The central government has given Rajasthan another major gift. This district of the state will now be connected by rail. Under the new rail project, a 96-kilometre-long railway line will be laid.</p>

<p><strong>Bihar Police Constable Exam 2025:</strong> Millions of young people in Bihar waiting to become police constables have received some big news. The Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC) has announced the dates for the Bihar Police Constable recruitment examination 2025 for 19,838 posts. This examination will be conducted in six different phases, starting from 16 July and concluding on 3 August 2025.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bihar Police Constable Exam Date 2025</h2>



<p>According to the schedule released by the CSBC, this written examination will be conducted in a single shift, with the examination time fixed from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. All candidates must reach the examination centre by 9:30 AM.</p>

<p>The admit card will contain the candidate&#8217;s name, roll number, father&#8217;s name, examination centre, and other necessary details. A printout of the admit card is mandatory for entry to the examination centre. No candidate will be allowed to sit for the exam without a valid admit card.</p>



<p>If a candidate is unable to download the admit card for any reason, they can obtain a duplicate hall ticket from the CSBC office in Patna (near Secretariat Halt, Back Harding Road).</p>

<p><strong>Union Bank Recruitment:</strong> Union Bank of India (UBI) has released the admit cards for the Specialist Officer (SO) recruitment exam 2025 on its official website. Candidates who applied for this recruitment can now download their admit cards from the bank&#8217;s website, unionbankofindia.co.in. The last date to download the admit card is 22 June 2025.</p>

<p>The exam for Specialist Officer positions will be held on 22 June 2025. The exam will have a total of 150 questions. The question paper will be of 225 marks. Candidates will be given a total of 150 minutes, or two and a half hours, to complete the exam.</p>

<p>A total of 500 vacancies will be filled under this recruitment drive. <p><strong>WHO salt intake recommendation:</strong> According to a New Zealand report, 80% of the salt consumed in India comes from home-cooked food. Especially in northern states, cultural and dietary habits lead people to consume more than 12 grams of salt daily. </p>



<p>This amount is more than double the recommendation from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Nutrition, which advise consuming less than 5 grams (approximately one teaspoon) of salt daily.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What are the harms of consuming too much salt? (WHO salt intake recommendation)</h2>



<p>Excessive salt intake (<em>Salt Intake</em>) increases the risk of high blood pressure (<em>Hypertension</em>), which can lead to heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems. Worryingly, approximately 175,000 deaths in India each year are attributed to excessive salt consumption, as it exacerbates high blood pressure.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Habit of consuming excessive salt; home-cooked food is also a reason</h2>



<p>80% of the salt we consume (<em>Salt Intake</em>) comes from home-cooked meals or added salt. Everyday items like pickles, papad, chutney, salads, and buttermilk significantly increase the salt content in our diet. The remaining salt comes from restaurant food, street food, and packaged snacks or ready-to-eat items.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Some misconceptions about salt</h2>



<p>There are some common misconceptions about salt. Pink salt, rock salt, and sea salt contain as much sodium as regular white salt. The difference in minerals is negligible because we consume them in such small quantities that they offer no significant benefit. Using iodised salt is crucial for good health.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why is consuming too much salt dangerous?</h2>



<p><strong>We consume too much salt:</strong> Indians consume 8 to 11 grams of salt (<em>Salt Intake</em>) daily, almost double the amount (5 grams) recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).</p>



<p><strong>Salt&#8217;s threat to life:</strong> Excessive salt consumption leads to high blood pressure, resulting in approximately 175,000 deaths in India annually.</p>



<p><strong>Millions suffer from high blood pressure:</strong> High blood pressure, a major cause of heart disease, affects 220 million people in India.</p>



<p><strong>The same situation worldwide:</strong> Globally, 2.6 million deaths occur annually due to heart disease, with more than half attributed to high blood pressure.</p>



<p><strong>Increasing risk in children:</strong> Approximately 70 million adolescents (youth) in India live with high blood pressure. They have a seven times higher risk of developing high blood pressure in adulthood.</p>



<p><strong>Benefits of reducing salt:</strong> Reducing salt intake can prevent and control high blood pressure. This also reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.</p>



<p><strong>Small reduction, big benefits:</strong> If India reduces daily salt consumption by just 3 grams, the risk of heart attacks could decrease by 4.6%, total deaths by 4.9%, and stroke risk by 6.5%.</p>

Train ticket confirmation: Chart to be prepared 24 hours before journey instead of 4 hours


<p><strong>Indian Railways:</strong> Indian Railways has undertaken a significant initiative to enhance passenger convenience. The waiting list chart for reserved tickets will now be prepared 24 hours before the journey, instead of 4 hours previously. This change will provide passengers ample time to make alternative travel arrangements and will also increase transparency in the railway system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>New initiative launched on June 6th</strong></h2>



<p>This scheme was initially launched as a pilot project on a single train in the Bikaner division on June 6th. According to railway sources, the experiment has yielded positive results in the initial four days. This allows passengers to know in advance whether their tickets will be confirmed, enabling them to plan alternative travel arrangements if necessary.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Implementation on busy routes</strong></h2>



<p>Following the successful trial in Bikaner, this initiative will be implemented on other busy routes across the country. This includes routes from Delhi to states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, where waiting lists are typically very long.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Plans to add extra coaches and run clone trains</strong></h2>



<p>This proposal was put forward by railway officials during the Railway Minister&#8217;s visit to Bikaner, and was immediately approved. Officials stated that preparing the chart a day in advance will give the railways time to plan the addition of extra coaches and the operation of clone trains.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Passenger problems to be resolved</strong></h2>



<p>Currently, the chart is prepared at the last minute, causing problems for passengers and leaving the railways with insufficient time to add coaches or take other measures. Furthermore, an average of 21% of passengers cancel their bookings after ticket confirmation, and 4-5% do not travel at all. Preparing the chart a day in advance will allow the railways to better anticipate the actual number of passengers.</p>



<p>Importantly, the existing process for Tatkal (instant) tickets will remain unchanged despite this new system.</p>
