Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Jaipur/Dausa: The Bandikui-Jaipur Link Expressway, connecting the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Jaipur, is finally set to open on Wednesday morning at 8 am. The expressway will be open for a trial period of one to ten days. No toll will be levied during this trial period.



It is understood that if no flaws are found, the expressway will be opened permanently, and toll collection will commence. Traffic will not begin on Wednesday from any interchanges except the Khuri interchange. If all goes well, traffic will be allowed on the expressway from other interchanges within a day or two.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Expressway built at a cost of crores</h2>



According to NHAI officials, the 66.91-kilometre-long Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway has been constructed at a cost of ₹1368 crore. During the trial period, no vehicles will be stopped except tractors, motorcycles, and other prohibited vehicles. After the opening of the Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway, the journey from Jaipur to Delhi will become easier and quicker, taking only two and a half to three hours.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Proposed Toll</h2>



&#8211; ₹150 toll on the 66.91 km Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway. &#8211; ₹550 to ₹560 toll on the Jaipur-Bandikui-Sohna Expressway. &#8211; ₹130 toll on the Sohna to Gurugram six-lane highway. &#8211; ₹680 to ₹690 toll between Jaipur and Delhi. (For private car drivers)



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tolls to start after receiving instructions</h2>



The trial run on the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway will begin at 8 am on Wednesday. Initially, traffic from the Delhi Expressway and Manoharpur Highway will be allowed. Himachal Cloudburst: With the monsoon active across most of the country, three days of incessant rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have led to a critical situation. Four cloudbursts in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, have caused widespread devastation. Five people have died and sixteen are missing due to floods and landslides. Streams are overflowing in Mandi, and a landslide has blocked the Manali-Mandi four-lane highway at the tunnel entrance. In Uttarakhand, a landslide near Satpuli on the Kotdwar-Badrinath route has closed the Pauri-Meerut National Highway. The Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi is also closed. Meanwhile, Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh is experiencing flood-like conditions on the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, and Alwar in Rajasthan has seen roads submerged under two feet of water.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Homes, Animal Shelters, and Bridges Destroyed</h2>



The heavy rain and floods have caused significant damage across the state. Numerous homes, animal shelters, and a bridge have been completely washed away in the Dharampur, Gohar, and Kotli areas of Mandi. Another bridge has also been swept away by floodwaters in the Bali Chowki area. Twenty-nine young women stranded at the DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) complex in Mandi have been moved to a Gurdwara and accommodated in a relief camp.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yellow Alert in Six Districts</h2>



According to the meteorological department, there is no immediate relief in sight. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for floods in Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan districts. Heavy rain and lightning are expected until July 7th, prompting the issuance of orange and yellow alerts.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">332 People Rescued</h2>



Rescue and relief operations are underway on a war footing across the state. The highest number of rescues, 233, have taken place in Mandi. Fifty-one people were rescued in Hamirpur and three in Chamba. In the village of Blah in Sujanpur Tehsil, Hamirpur, several people were trapped due to flooding in the Beas River and were rescued with the help of the police. The release of water from the Pandoh Dam increased the water level in the Beas River, endangering the Pandoh market area. Between 100 and 150 people were rescued from this area.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heavy Rainfall for the Next Seven Days</h2>



The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Tuesday that very heavy rainfall is likely in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana for the next six to seven days. A warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand.

Madhya Pradesh Power Company Relaxes Selfie Attendance Rules for Field Officers

Controversy surrounds attendance tracking for officials and employees in Madhya Pradesh (MP). Various departments have implemented strict measures, even developing dedicated apps. However, this has faced significant resistance from officials and employees. Against this backdrop, the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has made a significant decision regarding selfie-based attendance. The company has granted considerable leeway to its field officers.



According to the company, field officers are frequently on field visits to ensure uninterrupted power supply and meet operational needs. They are constantly involved in maintenance, power supply, and infrastructure-related work, making it difficult to adhere to a fixed attendance schedule. Therefore, to ensure the effective implementation of field work, a decision has been made to grant these officers some flexibility in their attendance.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Exemption from Two-Time Selfie Attendance Requirement</h2>



Now, field officers of the rank of Junior Engineer (JE) and above will only need to register their attendance once during office hours instead of twice. Junior Engineers (JE) and above officers deployed on field duty in the Operations and Maintenance (O&amp;M), STM/STC, Vigilance, BI Cell, and Civil departments will be exempted from the requirement of registering their attendance twice via selfies on the ‘Attendance Portal 2.0’.



The company clarified that field officers of JE rank and above on field duty can register their attendance only once at any convenient time during the day. However, officers posted in the corporate office or those working only in office duties in field units will continue to follow the existing system of registering their attendance twice. All other employees, including outsourced employees, will continue with the existing attendance system, punching in by 10:00 AM and punching out by 6:00 PM. The working hours will remain 8 hours.



The company stated that this relaxation is solely for the smooth operation of field activities and does not absolve personnel of their responsibility to be present at their workplace. This arrangement will be in effect as a pilot project from 1 July to 30 September 2025.

CG News: The middle school in Ruwaad gram panchayat, Chura block, Gariaband district, is in a dilapidated state. While classes have commenced, the school building is extremely dilapidated. Even after the school reopened on 15 June, children are forced to study under crumbling walls and leaking roofs. The safety of students and teachers is at serious risk.



The school building&#8217;s walls are crumbling in several places. The roof constantly leaks. The situation worsens during rainfall. The building lacks basic amenities, significantly hindering students&#8217; studies. Students reported that coming to school during rain is dangerous, with neither the roof nor the walls being safe. Classes often have to be interrupted.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The &#8220;School Jatan Yojana&#8221; is limited to paper only</h2>



Teachers are also worried. They say that there is a constant fear of an accident. In such a situation, studies are not happening properly. The academic future of the students is being affected. 



Village representatives and panchayat members are continuously requesting financial assistance from the government and administration for building repairs. They say that the government should pay attention to this soon, otherwise, a major accident could happen one day. Overall, in this village, the government&#8217;s School Jatan Yojana has remained limited to paper only.

Jaipur JDA Action: Jaipur: The Enforcement Branch of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) took strict action against two illegal colonies on Monday. Both colonies were being developed in violation of regulations on agricultural land.



It is noteworthy that illegal colonies were being established on approximately two bighas of agricultural land on Ajay Rajpura Road in the Gral Kalwara area and on approximately five bighas in Devi Singh Pura. During the action, the JDA team completely demolished the gravel and mud roads and boundary walls of the plots that had been constructed.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Will Not Be Tolerated’</h2>



Officials clarified that such constructions without approval and conversion of agricultural land will not be tolerated and that such actions will continue. Meanwhile, the vigilance branch of the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation also launched a campaign against temporary encroachments on Monday.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Corporation&#8217;s Vigilance Branch Takes Action</h2>



Ajay Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of the vigilance branch, informed that action was taken against illegally placed carts and shops from Haldighati Marg via Pannadhary Circle to the Coaching Hub, Maharana Pratap Circle, NRI Circle, Dwarkapuri, RUHs, Kumbha Marg, Sanganer Government Hospital, vegetable market and under the Durgapura bridge.



During this time, 11 canter loads of goods were seized and a carrying charge of ₹1000 was also collected. Both the Municipal Corporation and the JDA have warned of strict action against illegal construction and encroachment in the city.

His innings of 109 runs in 77 balls showcased the power of Indian batting to the world.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Virender Sehwag – Century in 78 balls (2006, against West Indies)</h2>



Former explosive batsman Virender Sehwag, known for dismantling bowlers across all three formats of cricket, scored the second-fastest Test century for India. Sehwag achieved this feat in 78 balls during a match against the West Indies in St Lucia in June 2006. Sehwag&#8217;s 180-run innings not only propelled India to a strong position but also highlighted his aggressive style in Test cricket. Sehwag&#8217;s inclusion in this list is no surprise, as he was one of the first batsmen to play Test cricket like T20.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shikhar Dhawan – Century in 85 balls (2013, against Australia)</h2>



Shikhar Dhawan created history in his Test debut. In a Test match against Australia played in Mohali in March 2013, Dhawan completed a century in just 85 balls, a world record for the fastest century on Test debut. His innings of 187 runs in 174 balls included 33 fours and two sixes. This innings catapulted Dhawan to stardom overnight and ushered in a new era in Indian cricket.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kapil Dev – Century in 86 balls (1982, against West Indies)</h2>



Kapil Dev was one of the most aggressive batsmen of his time. In a Test match against the West Indies played in Port of Spain in January 1982, Kapil scored a century in 86 balls. This innings came at a time when the West Indies bowling attack was at its peak, including legendary bowlers like Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding. Kapil&#8217;s innings not only showcased the strength of Indian batting but also added a new dimension of aggression to Test cricket.

India&#39;s Bangladesh tour uncertain? Government approval pending

India vs Bangladesh: The Indian team is currently on a tour of England, playing a five-match Test series. Following this tour, Team India is scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a limited-overs series. Three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 (T20) matches are slated for August under the ICC Future Tours Programme. This series was initially set to begin on 17 August at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. However, escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, and the political situation following the change in the Sheikh Hasina government in August last year, have cast a shadow over the India vs Bangladesh series, as the BCCI is yet to receive government clearance for the tour.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BCB Chairman Provides Update</h2>



Aminul Islam, the chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed after a marathon board meeting on Monday that discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are ongoing. He stated, &#8220;We are having positive discussions with the BCCI. We are discussing how we can do the series and if we cannot host it right now, we will do it at some other possible time.&#8221; Aminul added that while India hasn&#8217;t formally requested a postponement, the tour hinges on government approval.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Team India&#8217;s Schedule Packed Until January 2026</h2>



Interestingly, Bangladesh is planning for a new window. Team India&#8217;s calendar is quite busy until January 2026, immediately followed by the T20 World Cup 2026 and then IPL 2026. Therefore, if the India tour of Bangladesh doesn&#8217;t happen next month, the BCB might have to wait until after IPL 2026.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Set for Return</h2>



It&#8217;s worth noting that India hasn&#8217;t won an ODI series in Bangladesh since 2014. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both having retired from Test cricket, are poised to return to the ODI setup. The three-match ODI series will commence on 17 August in Mirpur and conclude on 23 August in Chattogram. The T20 series, scheduled from 26 to 31 August, marks India&#8217;s first bilateral T20 series on Bangladeshi soil.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suryakumar Yadav May Miss Some Matches</h2>



India&#8217;s T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is recovering from sports hernia surgery in England. He may miss some initial matches. If unavailable, Axar Patel could lead the T20 team.
