Maharashtra: Tractor-Trolley Plunges into Well, Killing 8


<p>A tragic accident has been reported from Nanded district, Maharashtra. On Friday morning, a tractor (Nanded tractor Accident) carrying female labourers from Gunj village, Vasmat taluka, Hingoli, who were going to harvest turmeric in the fields, plunged into a deep well near Kachan Nagar in Alegaon area of Nanded. Eight people have died in this horrific accident, and several others are feared trapped in the well.</p>



<p>The incident occurred between 7:00 and 7:30 am when the tractor carrying the women was heading towards the fields. According to eyewitnesses, the roads were slippery due to rain in the area. The tractor&#8217;s tyre slipped, causing the driver to lose control. The tractor fell directly into a water-filled well. The tractor is completely submerged, with only one tyre visible. Rescue operations are currently underway.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Death Toll May Rise</h2>



<p>Following the incident, villagers rushed to the spot and informed the local administration. Villagers rescued some people, including one woman, from the well. The survivors reported that several others were still trapped inside the tractor, raising fears that the death toll may increase.</p>

<p>Hingoli and Nanded police teams have reached the scene. Rescue operations are ongoing, but no bodies have yet been recovered, and the tractor remains submerged. A crane has been called to retrieve the tractor and trolley, and other rescue teams are assisting. The exact number of people on the tractor is currently unknown.</p>



<p>The accident has caused widespread panic in the area. All the women were reportedly from Bhuj village, Vasmat taluka, Hingoli district, and regularly used the tractor to travel to nearby villages for turmeric harvesting.</p>

Waqf Bill clears Rajya Sabha after fiery 13-hour debate


<p>Union Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. After a 13-hour debate, the bill passed with 128 votes in favour and 95 against. </p>



<p>The Waqf Bill is now one step away from becoming law, requiring only the President&#8217;s assent after receiving parliamentary approval. </p>



<p>The Lok Sabha had passed the Waqf Amendment Bill on Wednesday with 288 votes in favour and 232 against.</p>



<p>While introducing the bill in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that no other committee had done as much work on Waqf as the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">J.P. Nadda Explains the Bill&#8217;s Objective</h2>



<p>Speaking on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju mentioned that just before the implementation of the model code of conduct ahead of the 2014 general elections, on March 5, 2014, the UPA government denotified 123 prime properties and handed them over to the Delhi Waqf Board. These properties belonged to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.</p>



<p>Union Minister and BJP President J.P. Nadda stated regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill, &#8220;I stand in support of this bill, and I hope the House will also support it.&#8221; He added that it would support UMEED (Unified Waqf Management Empowerment, Efficiency and Development). The main objective of this bill is to improve the management of Waqf properties through reforms.</p>

<p>In the Rajya Sabha, Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Deve Gowda stated regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill that the government has brought it with good intentions and that the property of donors should not be misused.</p>

<p>TMC MP Nadimul Haque stated that the bill includes a condition that a person can only create a Waqf after following Islam for at least five years. He questioned who would certify someone as a Muslim, calling the provision unconstitutional and a violation of Article 14.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Waqf Bill Violates Articles 25 and 26’</h2>



<p>Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi criticised the Waqf Bill, stating that it prioritises bias over justice, attempting to revoke constitutional rights. He termed it arbitrary actions disguised in legal language, violating Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.</p>



<p>Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi termed the Waqf Bill unconstitutional and urged the government to withdraw it, stating that while the minister portrays it as hopeful for Muslims, it is actually the opposite.</p>



<p>Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the bill has created an atmosphere suggesting it aims to harass minorities. He expressed that if there had been significant changes to the 1995 Act, they would have accepted it. He further criticised the government&#8217;s intentions, warning against the consequences of acting arbitrarily.</p>

<p>Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer stated that aggression doesn&#8217;t mean hitting a six every ball, but rather demonstrating the right intent with every delivery, following their impressive 80-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Thursday.</p>



<p>In the match against SRH, Iyer played a magnificent innings of 60 runs off just 29 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes. He played a crucial role in taking KKR to 200 runs at Eden Gardens on Thursday, mirroring a strong start similar to last season&#8217;s final.</p>

<p><strong>Pashu Parichar Result 2025:</strong> The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has announced the final results of the Pashu Parichar recruitment examination 2024. The board chairman stated that candidates can view their results on the official website, rsmssb.rajasthan.gov.in, from Friday onwards. </p>



<p>However, the result link is not yet active on the website. The examination was held across the state on 1, 2, and 3 December of the previous year. This recruitment drive was conducted for a total of 6,433 positions, with an estimated 1 million candidates participating. Of these, approximately 382,000 candidates have passed the examination. Currently, the merit list could not be released due to technical reasons, but the board says this issue will be resolved soon, and the results will be uploaded to the website.</p>

The preliminary answer key was released on 24 January.</p>

<p>Flats Under CM Jan Awas Yojana: A residential project, ‘Wonder Kutumb’, is being developed near the Jaipur-Delhi Highway in Neemrana under the Chief Minister&#8217;s Jan Awas Yojana (CMJAY) by the Union and State Government&#8217;s Ministry of Urban Development to provide housing to every urban citizen. Officials expect the increased milk powder for children and the kits for pregnant women to be distributed from July.</p>



<p>Currently, the department provides malnourished children with 15 grams of milk powder as part of their nutritional supplements. Last month, the Chief Minister announced an increase of 10 grams, prompting the department to process the necessary paperwork. Upon approval, malnourished children will receive 25 grams of milk powder. Approximately 70,000 malnourished children aged 6 months to 5 years will benefit from this initiative. Officials estimate an annual expenditure of approximately ₹3.5 crore.</p>



<p>Malnourished children will now receive 25 grams of milk powder instead of 15 grams, along with their nutritional supplements. Pregnant women will receive a <em>Supposhan Nutri Kit</em> containing ghee, dates, makhana (fox nuts), and other items. Preparations for this initiative have commenced.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2.5 Lakh Pregnant Women to Receive Kits</h2>



<p>To ensure the birth of healthy babies, pregnant women will now receive <em>Supposhan Nutri Kits</em>. Each kit will contain 1 kg of ghee, along with 500 grams of dates, makhana (fox nuts), roasted chickpeas and peanuts, fortified rice, milk powder, and jaggery. These kits will be provided twice during the 5th to 9th months of pregnancy. Officials estimate that this initiative will benefit approximately 2.5 lakh pregnant women at a cost of approximately ₹25 crore.</p>


<p>Rajasthan News: The kit will include one kilogram of ghee, along with half a kilogram each of dates, makhana (fox nuts), roasted chickpeas and peanuts, fortified rice, milk powder, and jaggery.</p>

<p>MP News: A sex racket has been busted in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, operating just 800 metres from the Kotwali police station. Police raided the spa centre and apprehended two girls and two boys, who are currently being questioned. Preliminary investigations suggest the centre had been operational for about a year. Police sent an officer undercover as a client; once sex trafficking was confirmed, the raid was conducted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Seven Days of Surveillance</h2>



<p>Kotwali TI Brijmohan Singh Bhadauria received information about the sex racket operating under the guise of a spa centre. To gather concrete evidence, he deployed officers in plain clothes at various times over seven days to monitor the centre. Once suspicious activities were confirmed, the SP, ASP, and CSP were informed, leading to the raid.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Undercover Officer, ₹3,000 Demand</h2>



<p>An officer from the Kotwali police station was sent undercover to the spa centre located in Anuradha Galli. When the officer spoke to the woman running the centre, she demanded ₹3,000. The money was paid, and the police, who had already surrounded the building, immediately conducted the raid. Two girls and two boys were apprehended from the spa centre, along with objectionable material. One of the girls is from Bhopal and has previously run similar centres in Bhopal.</p>

<p><strong>Stephen Fleming on MS Dhoni:</strong> Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a six-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the 11th match of IPL 2025. When Dhoni came to bat at number 7, CSK needed 54 runs from 25 balls. Dhoni could only manage 16 runs from 11 balls, and CSK lost the match. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Dhoni to play only 6 more matches</h2>



<p>Meanwhile, a report released on OneCricket&#8217;s official Instagram account states that CSK coach Stephen Fleming said, &#8220;I spoke with MS last night, and we discussed his future role in CSK. We concluded that he will only remain in Chepauk for the remainder of the season.&#8221;</p>
