
<p><strong>UP Board Exam 2025:</strong> Over 85% of the answer sheets for the UP Board High School and Intermediate examinations have been evaluated, and preparations for announcing the results are now accelerating. According to board officials, the results will be released by the end of April under any circumstances.</p>



<p>The board had sent a total of 3,01,48,236 copies across 261 evaluation centres in the state—1,74,68,241 for high school and 1,26,79,995 for intermediate. By Thursday, 2,58,19,976 copies (85.63%) had been checked, including 1,45,66,163 from high school and 1,12,53,613 from intermediate. Out of the 1,41,510 examiners assigned for the evaluation process, 1,20,041 were present on Thursday.</p>



<p>Answer sheets have been evaluated at many centres, and in some, they are nearing completion. The board has set the final deadline for evaluation as April 2nd, but given the rapid pace of assessment, it is likely that this work will be completed by Sunday.</p>

<p><strong>Rajasthan News:</strong> After the central government, the Rajasthan government has also decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. Under the Seventh Pay Commission, the Rajasthan government has approved a 2% hike in the dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners.</p>

<p><strong>CM Bhajanlal Sharma</strong> announced on Tuesday via social media that on the special occasion of the new year Vikram Samvat (2082) and the new financial year 2025-26, our government has approved a 2% increase in the dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">55% Dearness Allowance and Relief to be Payable</h2>



<p>As a result of this decision by the Rajasthan government, state employees and pensioners will receive 55% dearness allowance and relief from January 1st. This decision will benefit approximately eight lakh employees and 4.40 lakh pensioners. Three months&#8217; DA will be deposited into the employees&#8217; GPF accounts. The increased DA from April onwards will be paid in cash.</p>

Noida: Massive fire at Atta Market, people break office and showroom windows to escape


<p>A devastating fire broke out on Tuesday in Krishna Plaza shopping complex, located in Sector 18, Atta Market, Noida, a city in the National Capital Region (NCR) adjacent to Delhi. The fire, which started suddenly in the afternoon, caused widespread panic. People were seen jumping from windows and balconies to escape the blaze. Approximately 50 individuals trapped inside the building were rescued by the fire brigade, averting a potentially larger tragedy. Krishna Plaza houses numerous offices and showrooms, many of which were open at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, although the fire brigade suspects a short circuit.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Noida Sector 20 Police Station Incident</h2>



<p>The incident occurred in the Sector 20 area of Noida. Atta Market is one of the busiest areas in Noida. The fire was first spotted near the stairs on the ground floor and rapidly spread to the upper floors. While those on the ground floor managed to escape, dozens on the upper floors were trapped by the fire and smoke. Several fire engines arrived swiftly and commenced rescue operations.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Panic Erupts in Shopping Complex Following Major Fire</h2>



<p>The massive fire at Krishna Plaza in Atta Market, Noida Sector 18, caused widespread terror. The fire quickly engulfed the entire complex. The thick smoke created a suffocating atmosphere, causing respiratory distress for many. People broke windows of showrooms and offices to escape, offering some relief but the situation remained extremely dangerous. Some individuals jumped from the building, resulting in three serious injuries. The injured were immediately hospitalised.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fire Brigade Rescues 50 People</h2>



<p>The fire brigade arrived promptly and began firefighting operations. Firefighters also broke windows to provide fresh air to those trapped inside and prevent suffocation. Using ladders and hydraulic equipment, approximately 50 people were safely rescued. Ambulances and police were also deployed. Several individuals were hospitalised as a precaution. The cause of the fire remains unclear, but a short circuit is suspected.</p>

<p>Videos of the incident are rapidly circulating on social media, showing people pleading for help from building windows. A large crowd gathered in the market following the fire. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution. Cooling operations continued for a considerable time after the fire was brought under control. The entire building has been sealed off, and access is restricted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Police Commissioner&#8217;s Statement</h2>



<p>Joint CP Shiv Hari Meena stated, “We received information about a fire at the Krishna Plaza building. Many people have been rescued. Those complaining of suffocation have been admitted to a local hospital. A short circuit is suspected as the cause. We are investigating further. All floors are being re-examined.”</p>

<p>Newly elected Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has initiated a new scheme to provide clean drinking water to the capital&#8217;s residents at affordable rates. Under this scheme, five thousand water ATMs will be installed across Delhi to provide clean drinking water to the general public. The scheme will be implemented under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. Separately, the Delhi Jal Board has increased infrastructure charges for water and sewer connections, effective from April 1st.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Focus on Crowded Markets in the First Phase</h2>



<p>In the first phase, these water ATMs will be installed in major commercial hubs, markets, and crowded areas of Delhi. Subsequently, ATMs will be installed in areas lacking piped water infrastructure. This will reduce reliance on water tankers in these areas and provide clean drinking water for daily needs. Delhi&#8217;s Water Minister Pravesh Verma stated, “The government will not only provide water through water ATMs, but is also exploring the possibility of incorporating a plastic bottle return facility in these machines. This will allow used bottles to be recycled and reused, thereby reducing plastic pollution.”</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Local Participation Crucial in Water ATM System</h2>



<p>The government&#8217;s plan will also ensure the participation of local market associations and RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations). This will ensure the security of the water ATMs and curb vandalism. However, the rates for obtaining water from the ATMs are yet to be finalised.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Delhi Jal Board Increases Infrastructure Charges</h2>



<p>In another significant development, the Delhi Jal Board has increased infrastructure charges for water and sewer connections. These rates came into effect on April 1st. Previously, the charge for a water connection in residential areas was ₹243.11, which the BJP government has increased to ₹255.27 per square foot. Similarly, the sewer connection charge has increased from ₹145.87 to ₹153.16 per square foot.</p>



<p>BJP leaders say that this government scheme will not only provide Delhi residents with access to clean water but will also be a positive step towards environmental protection and reducing plastic waste. If implemented with proper monitoring and maintenance, this scheme could bring about a significant change in Delhi&#8217;s water management.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scheme Initiated Under Previous Government as Well</h2>



<p>This is not the first time such a decision has been taken in the national capital. Previously, the Aam Aadmi Party government had also initiated work on this. In July 2024, the AAP government launched the scheme with four water ATMs, all installed in slum areas to provide clean drinking water.</p>



<p>The then-AAP government had announced plans to install 500 water ATMs under this scheme, but only four were installed. 2500 smart cards were also distributed to access water from these four ATMs. Smart card holders could access a maximum of 20 litres of water per day. Now, the BJP government has started work on a plan to install water ATMs on a larger scale.</p>

Jharkhand: Two goods trains collide head-on, two dead


<p>Jharkhand train accident: A severe train collision occurred late Monday night in Jharkhand&#8217;s Sahibganj district. The accident took place around 3 a.m. on the Barharwa MGR line when two freight trains collided. The crash claimed the lives of two loco pilots and left four CISF personnel injured.</p>



<p>According to initial reports, one freight train was already stationary on the tracks when another high-speed freight train approached on the same track, leading to a violent collision. The impact caused a fire to break out in one of the coal-laden trains, and several wagons derailed. The loco pilots who lost their lives in the accident have been identified as Ambuj Mahto (from Bokaro) and B.S. Mall (from West Bengal). The injured have been admitted to Barhet Sadar Hospital for treatment.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rescue operation underway</h2>



<p>As soon as news of the accident broke, fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and began efforts to control the blaze. The railway and local administration swiftly launched rescue and relief operations. Train services on the railway line have been suspended for now. The railway department has initiated an investigation to determine how both freight trains ended up on the same track. The accident caused chaos and panic at the site, but railway staff and local residents worked together to assist in the rescue efforts.</p>

This match is crucial for the Kiwis as a win would give them an unassailable lead in the series. The hosts currently hold a 1-0 advantage. However, the New Zealand team suffered a major setback before the second ODI. Black Caps batsman Mark Chapman will miss the second ODI against Pakistan in Hamilton due to a right hamstring injury.</p>



<p>It is noteworthy that Mark Chapman scored a magnificent century in the first ODI and was also named Player of the Match.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Injury Sustained While Fielding in the First ODI</h2>



<p>According to the Black Caps&#8217; report, Mark Chapman sustained the injury while fielding during the first ODI in Napier. Subsequent MRI scans revealed a grade one tear, requiring a short period of rehabilitation. Chapman played the best innings of his career in the first match of the series, scoring 132 runs. He will now return to Auckland for rehabilitation, aiming to be available for the third and final ODI at Bay Oval on Saturday.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tim Seifert Replaces Chapman</h2>



<p>Top-order batsman Tim Seifert has been included in the New Zealand team as a replacement for Mark Chapman. Seifert joins the team following a memorable KFC T20I series against Pakistan, where he scored 249 runs at an average of 62 and was the highest run-scorer.</p>

<p><strong>CBSE Syllabus Major Changes:</strong> The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented significant changes to the syllabus for classes 10 and 12. These changes aim to expand the CBSE&#8217;s academic framework and promote skill-based education, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). For class 10 students, a skill-based subject has been made mandatory.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">One Skill-Based Subject from Three is Mandatory</h2>



<p>The board has revised the syllabus for classes 10 and 12. Class 10 students must now choose one skill-based subject from three options: Computer Application, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, English is mandatory as one language subject. Students can choose their language in class 9 or 10.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Result Calculation in Case of Failure in Main Subjects</h2>



<p>A significant change is that if a student fails in a main subject like Science, Mathematics, Social Science, or a language, a skill-based subject or an optional language can be substituted for result calculation in the final outcome.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Changes in Class 12 Syllabus</h2>



<p>The class 12 syllabus also features significant revisions. Changes have been made to Mathematics, Social Science, Humanities, Languages, Science, Skill Subjects, General Studies, and Health &amp; PHE (Physical Education). Four new skill-based subjects have been added: Land Transport Associate, Electronics and Hardware, Physical Activity Trainer, and Design Thinking and Innovation. This will promote practical education and vocational skills.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Revised Grading Criteria</h2>



<p>Along with syllabus changes, the CBSE has also revised the grading criteria for both classes 10 and 12. A 9-point grading system will be used to convert marks into grades. Class 10 students will have two board exams per year, one in February and another in April. Class 12 exams will remain annual, commencing in February.</p>

<p><strong>Toll Tax Hike in Rajasthan:</strong> Motorists travelling in Rajasthan will now have to pay more toll tax on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll rates from 1 April, resulting in an additional burden of ₹10 to ₹70 on vehicles of different categories. These new rates will come into effect from midnight tonight.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Impact on Motorists&#8217; Pockets</h2>



<p>The Jaipur-Ajmer highway has two major toll plazas—Thikriya and Bardagawan-Kishangarh—where toll tax rates have been increased. According to the new rates, at the Thikriya toll plaza, the toll for cars will be ₹95 (up from ₹85), light commercial vehicles and minibuses ₹155 (up from ₹140), buses and trucks ₹330 (up from ₹295), 3XL commercial vehicles ₹360 (up from ₹320), heavy vehicles (4 to 6 axles) ₹515 (up from ₹460), and vehicles with more than 7 axles ₹630 (up from ₹560). At the Bardagawan-Kishangarh toll plaza, the toll for cars has been fixed at ₹60 (up from ₹55).</p>



<p>Following this increase, those travelling from Jaipur to Kishangarh by car will now have to pay ₹155, up from ₹140 previously. Similarly, the toll for light commercial vehicles and minibuses has increased from ₹225 to ₹240.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Jaipur-Kishangarh: One of India&#8217;s Busiest Highways</h2>



<p>The Jaipur-Kishangarh highway is considered one of the top 10 busiest highways in the country. More than 33,000 vehicles on average pass through this highway daily, from which toll is collected. The increased toll rates will directly impact the pockets of motorists. In addition, there are plans to increase toll tax on the Southern Ring Road in Jaipur, although official announcements regarding the new rates are yet to be made.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Toll Hike Cited for Flyover Construction</h2>



<p>The NHAI says the toll rate increase is due to infrastructure improvement projects. A total of 10 flyovers have been constructed on Ajmer Road in the last four years, including Bhankrota, Hirapura, Dahmikalan, Mahalan, Nursingpura, Gadhota, Savarda, Padasolia, Mokhampura, and Bandar Sindri.</p>



<p>NHAI officials say that toll rates are revised every year from 1 April, and this increase has also been made under the prescribed procedure. They claim that the toll increase was necessary due to high maintenance costs and new infrastructure development works.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Traffic Congestion Remains a Problem on the Highway</h2>



<p>However, local motorists and passengers say that the problem of traffic congestion on the highway still persists, and passengers are not getting any relief despite the increase in toll rates. There is resentment among local motorists and the general public regarding the increase in toll tax. People travelling on this route daily say that the facilities have not improved, but the toll tax is being continuously increased.</p>

Madhya Pradesh Government to Subsidize Electricity Bills by Rs 566 for Over 1 Crore Consumers


<p>MP Electricity Bills – Relief for consumers in Madhya Pradesh as the state government will provide substantial subsidies on electricity bills despite a recent increase in electricity rates by the regulatory commission. Energy Minister, Prayumansingh Tomar announced that the government will contribute ₹566 as a subsidy to domestic electricity bills. This will benefit over one crore consumers in the state. It is estimated that the state government will provide approximately ₹27,000 crore in subsidies for electricity bills in the fiscal year 2025-26.</p>



<p>Significant subsidies are also being provided to agricultural consumers. In the previous fiscal year, the government bore approximately ₹23,695 crore in subsidies, along with ₹3,067 crore from the previous year, totaling ₹26,762 crore. A similar amount is anticipated for the fiscal year 2025-26.</p>



<p>According to electricity officials, domestic consumers with monthly consumption up to 150 units only pay ₹100 for the first 100 units. The government covers the subsidy for the 100 units. The government will pay approximately ₹566 as a subsidy for each domestic consumer in the city.</p>



<p>This subsidy will be provided to domestic consumers across the state. According to electricity company data, the number of domestic consumers receiving government subsidies is approximately 1.07 crore across the state.</p>
