
<p><strong>DU Summer Internship 2025:</strong> Delhi University has invited online applications for its Summer Internship 2025. This internship, organised by the Dean Students&#8217; Welfare office, will be held in June and July.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">DU Summer Internship Eligibility</h2>



<p>Current undergraduate or postgraduate students of Delhi University are eligible to apply. Final-year or final-semester students are not eligible. Candidates who have previously participated in this internship are also ineligible. Successful completion of the DU Summer Internship will be awarded with a certificate from the Dean Students&#8217; Welfare.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">DU Summer Internship Duration</h2>



<p>This two-month internship (June and July) requires 20 hours of work per week from each candidate. A monthly stipend of ₹11,025 will be provided. Candidates must upload a recommendation letter from their college principal, department head, or institute head. This letter must be on official institute letterhead, dated on or after 15 April, and signed. Applications without this letter will not be accepted.</p>

<p>Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church and the highest religious figure for Christians, passed away on Monday at the age of 88. </p>



<p>The Vatican confirmed this in a video statement. During his 12-year tenure, Pope Francis battled several health issues. In a statement published on their Telegram channel, Cardinal Kevin Farrell said, “At 7:35 this morning (0535 GMT) the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of his Father.”</p>



<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on X that he is deeply saddened by the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the global Catholic community in this moment of grief and remembrance. Modi said Pope Francis will always be remembered by millions across the world as a symbol of compassion, humility, and spiritual courage. He noted that from a young age, Pope Francis dedicated himself to living by the ideals of Lord Jesus Christ, serving the poor and the marginalised with devotion and bringing hope to those who were suffering. Modi recalled his meetings with the Pope and said he was greatly inspired by his commitment to inclusive and holistic development. He added that Pope Francis’s affection for the people of India will always be cherished and prayed for his soul to rest in the divine embrace of the Almighty.</p>

Karni Sena State President Shot Dead in Jharkhand


<p><strong>Karni Sena:</strong> Vinay Singh, the national vice-president and Jharkhand state president of the Karni Sena, was shot dead in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on Sunday night. The incident occurred in a lane near Mini Punjab Hotel in the Mango Baliguma area. Police recovered his body using mobile location data. He had a gunshot wound to the head and a pistol in his left hand. Several injury marks were also found on his hands and legs.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Outrage Among Workers</h2>



<p>Following Vinay Singh&#8217;s death, outrage spread among Kshatriya Samaj and Karni Sena workers. Protesters blocked National Highway-33 and Dimna Chowk, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers. Police have labelled it a planned murder, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), and begun examining CCTV footage. Karni Sena leaders have warned of a strong protest and a Jharkhand bandh if the killers are not arrested within 48 hours.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shot by Unknown Assailants</h2>



<p>A police officer stated that Vinay Singh was returning home with some others when unknown assailants opened fire near a hotel on NH-33, resulting in his death. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the assailants, and the investigation is ongoing.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Body Lay on Road for Two Hours</h2>



<p>After news of Karni Sena state president Vinay Singh&#8217;s murder, police arrived at the scene. However, due to a lack of ambulance arrangements, the body remained on the road for about two hours. This caused outrage among those present, leading to strong protests against the police. Angry people prevented the removal of the body without an ambulance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Traffic Disrupted</h2>



<p>An ambulance finally arrived around 12 am, after which the body was taken to MGM Hospital. During this time, a long traffic jam occurred on National Highway-33, completely disrupting traffic.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Police Investigating</h2>



<p>Police are investigating all aspects, but the motive behind the murder remains unclear. However, some believe it may be linked to political tension or personal enmity.</p>

<p><strong>Pakistan:</strong> Pakistan&#8217;s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has stated that there are approximately 22 million beggars in the country. Asif expressed concern over the steadily increasing number of beggars, highlighting that this is no longer a domestic issue alone. Pakistanis are resorting to begging in foreign countries as well, damaging the nation&#8217;s image abroad. It is noteworthy that Pakistan&#8217;s total population is close to 240 million; thus, approximately one in ten Pakistanis is involved in begging. Begging has, in a way, become a national profession in Pakistan.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Annual Income of ₹42 Billion</h2>



<p>Asif also revealed the annual earnings of these beggars. Addressing members of the Readymade Garments Association in Sialkot, Asif stated that their annual income totals ₹42 billion. Underscoring the severity of the problem, Khawaja mentioned having removed beggars from Sialkot twice, only to see them return in large numbers. He emphasised that these individuals harm the country&#8217;s international reputation and credibility.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pakistan&#8217;s Infamy for Seeking Loans</h2>



<p>Not only are its citizens, but Pakistan as a nation is also notorious worldwide for its extensive borrowing. Recent data indicates that Pakistan and Argentina are the two countries that have borrowed from the IMF (International Monetary Fund) the most, a total of 20 times. Pakistan&#8217;s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lamented on several occasions that whenever he visits Saudi Arabia or any other friendly country, it is assumed that he is there to seek loans.</p>

<p>Asif mentioned that 6,000 Pakistanis are begging in Saudi Arabia alone. He added that in the last three years, Saudi Arabia has apprehended and deported 4,700 Pakistanis for begging. He questioned how other countries can help under these circumstances. The Minister stated that this growing problem of begging among Pakistanis is creating difficulties for the country&#8217;s industrialists in obtaining foreign visas.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Army Chief&#8217;s Extremist Speech and Attack on Hindu Minister</h2>



<p>To mislead the impoverished people of Pakistan, the rulers promote extremism. As a result, even the few Hindu ministers are not safe. On Saturday, the convoy of Kheel Das Kohistani, a Member of Parliament from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Minister of State for Religious Affairs, was attacked with tomatoes and potatoes, and slogans were raised against the federal government. He was unharmed in the attack. The protesters were opposing the government&#8217;s new canal project.</p>



<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called Kohistani and assured a thorough investigation into the incident. The Prime Minister stated, &#8216;Attacking public representatives is unacceptable. Those involved in the incident will be severely punished.&#8217;</p>



<p>This attack comes at a time when Pakistan&#8217;s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, described Hindus and Muslims as two entirely separate nations, citing this as the basis for the country&#8217;s partition. Munir stated, &#8220;Our forefathers believed that we are distinct from Hindus in every aspect of life. Our religion is different, our customs are different, our culture is different, and our thinking is different. Our aspirations are different. This was the foundation of the two-nation theory.&#8221;</p>

<p>BCCI Central Contract List 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its player contract list on Monday, featuring the return of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jitesh Sharma, and KS Bharat have been dropped from the contract list, while Harshit Rana, Akashdeep, Varun Chakravarthy, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abhishek Sharma have been included in the BCCI&#8217;s central contract list for the first time. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah have been retained in Grade A+. Rishabh Pant has been promoted from Grade B to Grade A.</p>

<p><strong>JEE Main Session 2 Success Story:</strong> The results of the JEE Main Session 2 were declared on the night of 18 April. This time, a total of 24 candidates achieved a 100 NTA score. In this year&#8217;s results, 3 candidates each from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh achieved 100 percentile. Two candidates each from West Bengal, Gujarat, and Delhi secured top ranks, while one candidate each from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh also topped the list. Kushagra Gupta secured the top rank with 24th rank in this list.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Kushagra found the JEE Main Session 2 exam quite difficult</h2>



<p>Kushagra Gupta hails from Bengaluru. Kushagra also achieved 100 percentile in the JEE Main Session 1 paper. Now, he has achieved 100 percentile in the Session 2 exam. Kushagra Gupta&#8217;s father, Amit Gupta, is a department head at Alstom Transport India Limited. His mother, Madhumita Gupta, works as a senior scientist at Philips Healthcare. In an interview, Kushagra Gupta said that he was not fully prepared for the Session 2 exam. Nevertheless, he took the exam. Kushagra said that the exam was difficult, especially the Maths section. He had to struggle a lot to achieve a good rank.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the JEE Topper&#8217;s Strategy (JEE Topper Strategy)?</h2>



<p>To top the JEE Main, Kushagra studied for about 12-13 hours every day. He told the media that whenever he felt stressed, he would go out to play. But after playing, he would immediately sit down to study. Kushagra&#8217;s favourite subjects were Maths and Physics. Therefore, he dreamt of becoming an engineer. Kushagra credited his success to his institute, saying that regular tests helped him clarify his concepts.</p>

<p>After passing the JEE Main Session 2 exam, Kushagra now wants to focus on JEE Advanced. His dream college is IIT Bombay or IIT Madras. He wants to pursue engineering in Computer Science (CS). Regarding the intense competition for seats in IITs, he says that there is a lot of competition, but success can still be achieved through hard work.</p>

<p><strong>Bhopal Metro:</strong> The second phase of metro train trials has commenced. While previously, single metro rakes were observed running on the tracks, the trials now involve two rakes operating simultaneously in opposite directions. The Metro Rail Corporation has initiated these trials, running from the Subhash Nagar metro depot to the Kamlapati metro station and further to AIIMS.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trains Crossing Paths</strong></h2>



<p>This trial involves running trains in opposite directions on both tracks of the elevated line of the Bhopal Metro (Bhopal Metro). On the 6.22 km track, the trains are being made to cross each other three to four times. Currently, the speed is maintained at 50 km per hour. Corporation officials state that the metro will eventually run at 90 km per hour, with crossings also conducted at this speed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Commercial Run Planned for August</strong></h2>



<p>Under the <strong>metro train</strong> project, the aim is to commence commercial operations, i.e., running trains with passengers, by August. Indore is currently preparing for its commercial run, followed by Bhopal in three months. Work is underway on the metro tracks, lines, stations, and speed optimisation. In Bhopal, the Orange and Blue lines are slated for completion in 2027, aiming to run the metro on approximately 30 km of track from AIIMS to Karond and from Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri Tiraha, carrying regular passengers.</p>

<p>In this film, Salman Khan was to play the role of Indian spy Ravindra Kaushik. The actor had been cast in his biopic. Ravindra is known as ‘Black Tiger’ and is considered one of India&#8217;s most daring intelligence agents.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Was the Film Shelved?</h2>



<p>The film was to be directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, director of ‘Raid’ and ‘Raid 2’. In an interview with PTI, he stated that the script was ready and Salman Khan had immediately agreed to it. However, the biopic rights acquired for the film expired and were not renewed. This led to the project being halted.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Five Years of Work Wasted</h2>



<p>Raj Kumar Gupta mentioned that he had spent the last five years researching the life of Ravindra Kaushik. Salman Khan&#8217;s fans were also very excited about this film. But now this project has been shelved.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will the Film Be Made Again in the Future?</h2>



<p>Currently, there is no official update regarding the remake of this biopic. However, if this film were made and Salman played the role of Ravindra Kaushik, it could have been a major turning point in his career.</p>

<p>Due to today&#8217;s fast-paced life and unhealthy eating habits, the problem of fatty liver is rapidly increasing. Fatty liver is becoming a common yet dangerous problem. Poor diet, a sedentary lifestyle, and excessive consumption of fried foods lead to fat accumulation in the liver. The good news is that these exercises don&#8217;t require strenuous physical activity. They are called isometric exercises, activities where muscles work but the body&#8217;s position doesn&#8217;t change.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is this isometric exercise?</h2>



<p>Isometric means &#8220;strengthening muscles without moving&#8221;. Your muscles work, but your joints (like elbows or knees) don&#8217;t move. This improves blood circulation and keeps your heart healthy.</p>
