<p>In the near-warlike situation between India and Pakistan, the Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet emerged as a ‘war hero’ during Operation Sindoor. Being approximately one and a half times larger than other aircraft, including the Rafale, it easily came onto the Pakistani radar system. Despite this, the Sukhoi evaded China&#8217;s PL-15E beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missiles and HQ-9BE surface-to-air missiles (SAMs).</p>



<p>The Sukhoi destroyed both missile systems, which constituted Pakistan&#8217;s biggest air defence. After attacking terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK on 6 May, the Sukhoi launched a BrahMos missile attack on Pakistan on the morning of 10 May, proving to be a game-changer. This BrahMos strike destroyed three of Pakistan&#8217;s strategically important airbases. Sources suggest this devastating attack forced Pakistan&#8217;s DGMO to seek a ceasefire.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Sukhoi Became a Hero</h2>



<ol>
<li><strong>*</strong> On the night of 6-7 May, the Sukhoi-30MKI, along with Rafale and Mirage-2000 aircraft, attacked Pakistani launch pads. In response, Pakistani JF-17s equipped with PL-15E missiles and HQ-9BEs attacked Indian Air Force fighter jets. The Sukhoi used high-G manoeuvres and ECM, rapidly changing flight direction and speed to deceive the missiles.</li>



<li><strong>*</strong> In a reported encounter near Bhatinda, Pakistani JF-17s fired PL-15E missiles at the Sukhoi, locking onto it. The Sukhoi broke the lock using a barrel roll and its EL/M-6222 pod, jamming the Pakistani missile&#8217;s sensors.</li>



<li><strong>*</strong> In Kashmir, the Sukhoi deceived the Pakistani HQ-9BE radar by flying at low altitude, avoiding radar detection.</li>
</ol>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Still a Frontline Aircraft</h2>



<p>Before the arrival of the Rafale, the Sukhoi-30 was India&#8217;s primary frontline aircraft. While it is a 4th generation fighter jet and the Rafale is a 4.5 generation fighter jet, its electronic warfare capabilities and its ability to change speed and direction in the air have once again established it as a frontline aircraft.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Squadron in Jodhpur</h2>



<p>A squadron of Sukhoi-30s is stationed at Jodhpur, a key strategic airbase in western Rajasthan. After the Pulwama attack, Sukhoi aircraft moved from backup airbases to frontline airbases to counter Pakistan. Sukhoi aircraft from Jodhpur airbase played a role in the BrahMos missile attack.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upgrade Planned for Next Year</h2>



<p>The Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and DRDO may begin a plan next year to upgrade the Sukhoi-30. This will involve installing advanced systems to make it a 4.5 generation aircraft.</p>

<p><strong>Adampur Airbase:</strong> Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Adampur airbase in Jalandhar, Punjab, early Tuesday morning. <p>Pakistan had claimed to have destroyed India&#8217;s S-400 air defence system. Pakistan asserted that its JF-17 fighter jets had destroyed India&#8217;s S-400 at Adampur. However, the Indian Army refuted this claim. But the picture PM Modi posted on social media today shows the S-400 intact. This clearly shows that Pakistan&#8217;s claim regarding the S-400 was false.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Chants of Vande Mataram</h2>



<p>It is understood that PM Modi&#8217;s visit is being seen as a demonstration of military preparedness and strategic resolve following the India-Pakistan tension and the success of Operation Sindur. The soldiers raised slogans of &#8220;Bharat Mata Ki Jai&#8221; and &#8220;Vande Mataram,&#8221; reflecting their enthusiasm.</p>

<p><strong>Rajat Patidar, Indian Premier League 2025:</strong> The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to begin on 17 May. The tournament was postponed for a week due to tensions between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), currently in excellent form, is now concerned about captain Rajat Patidar’s injury.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Patidar Injured Against CSK</h2>



<p>Rajat Patidar sustained a serious finger injury during a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has been advised to wear a splint and is not allowed to bat in the nets. The medical team is closely monitoring his condition. According to sources, RCB hopes Patidar can return to bat as an impact player in crucial matches like the playoffs or final.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">May Also Miss England Tour</h2>



<p>If the injury is serious, Patidar may also be ruled out of India A’s tour of England. Given the need for extensive rehabilitation and rest, there are concerns he may miss the entire IPL. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pawandeep Rajan Will Be Unable to Walk for Six Weeks</h2>



<p>Sources close to Pawandeep Rajan have reported that he was shifted from the ICU to a regular room three days ago. While initially unable to get up, he is now recovering quickly. He is undergoing physiotherapy but will be unable to walk for the next six weeks. He is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the next seven to eight days.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pawandeep Rajan&#8217;s Accident on May 5th </h2>



<p>Pawandeep Rajan&#8217;s accident occurred last Monday, May 5th, while travelling from Uttarakhand to Noida. His car collided with a truck on the highway in Gajraula, Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. His driver, Rahul Singh, and a friend, Ajay Mehra, were also injured in the accident. All three were admitted to the hospital by the police, after which Pawandeep Rajan was transferred to Fortis Hospital in Noida.</p>

<p><strong>CUET UG Dress Code:</strong> The CUET UG examination is commencing today, 13 May. Passing this exam is mandatory for admission to undergraduate courses in over 300 universities across the country. The CUET UG score will be used for admission to several major universities, including DU, JNU, BHU, Jamia, AMU, and Allahabad University. This year&#8217;s CUET UG exam will be conducted in CBT mode.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Optional Questions Removed</h2>



<p>The optional question system has been eliminated from the CUET UG exam this year. All questions will be compulsory for candidates. Previously, 10 out of 60 questions were optional, but this has now been removed. The exam duration will be 60 minutes. Each test paper will contain 50 questions. Five marks will be awarded for each correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.</p>

Candidates wearing traditional attire must report to the examination centre at least one hour before the reporting time for security checks. Jewellery should not be worn.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Entry Without Admit Card Will Not Be Allowed</h2>



<p>Candidates must bring their admit card, passport-size photograph, and one photo ID (Aadhaar card/PAN card/Voter ID card/Passport/Driving Licence). Entry to the examination hall will not be granted without these documents. Candidates who have exams in two subjects on the same day should carry two photographs.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Arrive on Time</h2>



<p>Entry will be allowed up to half an hour before the commencement of the examination. Students are advised to arrive on time to avoid any difficulties with checking, etc.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Items to Bring</h2>



<p>In addition to the admit card, candidates should bring their original Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID, or other photo ID proof. A passport-size photograph should be affixed to the admit card. Candidates may bring a transparent water bottle.</p>

<p>Electronic items such as mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, microphones, calculators, electronic gadgets, geometry or pencil boxes, watches, etc., are not allowed. Food items are also not permitted inside the examination centre.</p>

Jaisalmer Viral Video Case: Man and Woman Arrested


<p>The case of a young woman engaging in indecent acts with an elderly man inside a car in Jaisalmer has taken a significant turn. Police have arrested both the accused man and woman from different states. Meanwhile, reports suggest the woman, who was seen naked and engaging in obscenity with a 70-year-old man inside the car, has deleted her social media account.</p>



<p>The incident occurred at a tourist spot in Rajasthan. Following the escalation of the matter, a case was registered at the Tanot police station in Jaisalmer. According to the police report, a young man and woman arrived in Jaisalmer for sightseeing. They parked their car in a secluded area where they encountered an elderly goat herder.</p>



<p>The young man, seated in the driver&#8217;s seat, called the goat herder to the car. Upon approaching, the elderly man saw a young woman sitting naked inside the vehicle. The young man began recording a video and asked the elderly man if he found the woman attractive. He then urged the elderly man to touch the woman.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Young Man Instructs Elderly Man to Touch the Woman</h2>



<p>Despite repeated refusals, the elderly man was pressured by the young man into touching the woman inappropriately. The woman, who appeared to encourage the act, was also part of the recording made by the young man.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Woman&#8217;s Face Blurred in Video, Elderly Man&#8217;s Face Visible</h2>



<p>Subsequently, the young couple edited the video and uploaded it to an adult website. Some clips were also shared on social media, quickly going viral. The woman&#8217;s face was blurred in the video, while the elderly man&#8217;s face remained visible. Following the video&#8217;s viral spread and widespread public outrage, the Tanot police station in Jaisalmer registered a case.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deleted Photos and Social Media Account</h2>



<p>As the matter gained momentum, the woman deleted her social media account and removed all photos and videos from the internet. However, this did not deter the police investigation. The police eventually arrested the man in Bihar and the woman in Uttar Pradesh. Both have been remanded to judicial custody and have confessed to the charges.</p>

<p><strong>CG News:</strong> A sex racket was busted at a spa centre in VR Tower, Junwani. Police raided the establishment and uncovered the illegal activity. A tip-off from an informant revealed that a woman, operating under the guise of a massage parlour called Agam Beauty Salon &amp; Spa Centre, was facilitating sex trafficking. Following this information, police conducted a raid at night.</p>



<p>The spa centre&#8217;s operator, Priyasingh, and clients SK Dwivedi, Dharmsheel Khobragade, Rahul Choudhary, and Vikas Gendre were found at the scene. Objectionable material and five mobile phones were seized. The accused were charged under sections 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act, 1956, and sent to judicial remand.</p>



<p>The CSP stated that during the raid, the police team found objectionable material, five registers, and ₹4,000. The registers contained the names of clients. The girls found at the location were counselled and released.</p>

Petrol and diesel not available at 850 HP pumps in HP, major reason comes to light


<p>Most Hindustan Petroleum (HP) petrol pumps have been dry for the past five days due to a technical server malfunction. Notices have been put up at the pumps due to the disruption in the petrol and diesel supply. However, HP officials say their technical team is continuously working to fix the server. Manual work is being carried out due to the problem in the online system. This has affected supply and distribution from the depot.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Petrol Diesel Pump: Normalcy Expected Today</h2>



<p>The server is expected to be back to normal by Monday evening. According to Abhay Parkh, president of the HP Petrol Pump Association, there is sufficient stock at the depot, but the supply is delayed due to the server outage. However, there has been no significant impact on vehicle drivers as supplies at Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Reliance pumps are normal. It should be noted that there are more than 750 petrol pumps in various districts of the state, and about 100 in Raipur district alone. Supply is done through tankers based on the demand of petrol pump operators. However, the departmental work has been affected due to the server outage.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Limited Tankers Received Tokens</h2>



<p>Due to the technical malfunction in the server, only a few vehicles received petrol and diesel supplies from the depot. It is reported that over the past five days, 20% of tankers were issued manual tokens instead of online tokens on a priority basis. This caused difficulties for drivers in remote rural areas. It should be noted that more than 8.2 million vehicles are registered with the state&#8217;s transport department.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Suspicion of Cyber Attack</h2>



<p>Petrol pump operators have suspected a cyber attack due to the sudden server outage. However, HP management has denied this, attributing it to a technical fault in the server and claiming it will be fixed soon. It should be noted that, according to regulations, each pump is required to maintain a 10% reserve stock according to its capacity for emergency situations.</p>


<p>HP officials say that their technical team is continuously working to rectify the server. Manual processes are being used due to problems with the online system.</p>

<p>MP News: A preliminary map of the Bhopal Metropolitan Region (Bhopal) has been prepared. An area of 8791 sq km, encompassing five districts around Bhopal, is being designated. This translates to 879,109.94 hectares. Based on Bhopal district&#8217;s population density of 855 persons per hectare, this area will accommodate a population of 7.5 million (Development News). Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) has initiated the process of selecting a consultant for the Detailed Project Report (DPR), with an initial budget of ₹10 lakh. The consultant will be selected this month, and the DPR must be completed within 14 months thereafter.</p>

<p><strong>New Diabetes Type:</strong> The Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) in Chennai, in collaboration with Washington University, USA, has made a remarkable discovery. They have identified a new type of diabetes, particularly linked to a type of diabetes found in children or adolescents inherited from parents (known as MODY).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Diabetes Type: Novel Dysfunction in the ABCC8 Gene</h2>



<p>This research revealed a mutation in the ABCC8 gene, crucial for the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.<br>This gene mutation initially causes low blood sugar (Congenital Hyperinsulinism) in children, later developing into diabetes with age.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">One Gene, Different Effects</h2>



<p>The research also found that different mutations in the same gene can cause different diseases.</p>



<p><strong>Some mutations produce excess insulin –</strong> Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)</p>



<p><strong>Some mutations produce less insulin –</strong> Diabetes (high blood sugar)</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why is Genetic Testing Necessary?</h2>



<p>Dr. V. Mohan states that genetic and lab testing are crucial for accurate diagnosis of such diseases.<br>All MODY patients cannot be treated the same. For instance, Sulphonylurea drugs are ineffective in this new type of MODY, while they are effective in other types.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">No Cure Yet, But Early Detection Helps</h2>



<p>Currently, this type of diabetes cannot be prevented as it is caused by an inherited gene defect.<br>However, if there is a family history of the disease or if children show symptoms of low blood sugar, early detection and treatment can be initiated.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Personalised Treatment Needed for Diabetes</h2>



<p>Just as cancer treatment is now tailored to its molecular profile, personalised (precision) treatment is necessary for diabetes as well. This study is a first step in that direction.</p>
