
<p>Bengaluru City University will be renamed Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University. Government Arts College and Government R.C. College will be made constituent colleges of this university to make it a model university in the country.</p>



<p>Action will be taken to fill 2,000 vacant teaching positions in government first-grade colleges, engineering colleges, and polytechnics.</p>



<p>Essential infrastructure will be provided in government engineering colleges, polytechnics, and degree colleges at a cost of ₹275 crore.</p>



<p>The UUCMS software implemented for integrated management of higher education institutions will be upgraded for effective implementation at a total cost of ₹30 crore.</p>



<p>A constituent college of Visvesvaraya Technological University will be established in Chinthamani Taluk, Chikkaballapur district at a cost of ₹150 crore.</p>



<p>A special skill development programme will be launched for 23,000 students of degree colleges by KKRDB at a cost of ₹10 crore.</p>

West Bengal Violence: Governor Visits Murshidabad Defying CM&#39;s Appeal


<p>Recent violence in West Bengal has created a political storm. Ignoring Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee&#8217;s appeal, Governor C.V. Ananda Bose visited violence-affected areas of Murshidabad and Malda on Friday. He aimed to meet affected families in relief camps and understand the situation on the ground. Meanwhile, the state BJP has requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit Bengal and respond to Mamata Banerjee&#8217;s accusations, in which she blamed Shah for the Murshidabad violence.</p>



<p>Governor Bose met victims in relief camps in Malda and assessed the areas affected by the violence that erupted over the Waqf (Amendment) Act. He also discussed riot control measures with district administration officials. According to Raj Bhavan, Bose&#8217;s visit aims to uncover the truth behind the violence. On Thursday, some displaced families were brought to Raj Bhavan by BJP state president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, where they met with the Governor.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mamata Banerjee&#8217;s Request Ignored</h2>



<p>Mamata Banerjee had requested the Governor to postpone his visit. She stated, “Peace has been restored, but the administration is still working to regain public trust. I could have gone, but I will go at the right time. I request the Governor and others to wait a few days.” Despite this, Bose decided to proceed with his visit.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">BJP Calls for Amit Shah&#8217;s Intervention</h2>



<p>Meanwhile, the BJP is planning a visit by Amit Shah. A BJP leader stated, “We have requested the Home Minister to come to Bengal and respond to Mamata&#8217;s accusations. We hope he will come soon and bring the truth about the Murshidabad violence before the public.” However, the date and location of Shah&#8217;s visit are yet to be decided. The BJP wants Shah&#8217;s visit to precede Prime Minister Narendra Modi&#8217;s proposed visit, where he may attend a GAIL event in Ranaghat, Nadia, this month. The BJP believes that if Shah clarifies the situation first, and then Modi confirms his stance, it will significantly impact Mamata.</p>

<p>A political uproar has erupted in Maharashtra over the state government&#8217;s decision to make Hindi a compulsory language in schools. The Maharashtra government announced the phased implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) from the academic year 2025-26. Under this, Hindi will be taught as a third compulsory language from classes 1 to 5 in all schools across the state. With this, Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to implement a three-language policy.</p>



<p>Strongly opposing this decision to make Hindi compulsory, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has warned the government. He stated, &#8220;We are Hindus, but not Hindi speakers. If an attempt is made to impose this decision on Maharashtra, we will launch a movement. We will not allow Hindi textbooks in schools.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hindi is not the national language &#8211; Raj Thackeray</h2>



<p>Raj Thackeray said, &#8220;Hindi is merely a state language like other languages of the country, not the national language. India&#8217;s linguistic diversity and the identity of its states have a long history. Therefore, we will not allow the &#8216;Hindification&#8217; being imposed by the central government across the country to succeed in Maharashtra.&#8221;</p>



<p>He further stated, &#8220;The three-language policy should be limited to government work only; there is no need to implement it in the field of education. Will you teach the Marathi language in every state? If not, why are you imposing Hindi in Maharashtra?&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Divide and Rule Strategy’</h2>



<p>Raj Thackeray also alleged that the state government is deliberately fueling the &#8216;Marathi versus Marathi&#8217; conflict for political gain. He said, &#8220;The state&#8217;s economy has crumbled, unemployment is rising, Marathi youth want jobs, farmers want loan waivers, and at such a time, the government has nothing to show. In such a situation, the British policy of &#8216;Divide and Rule&#8217; is being adopted.&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">‘Why isn&#8217;t Hindi implemented in South India?’</h2>



<p>Raj Thackeray questioned, &#8220;Why is the compulsion of Hindi only in Maharashtra? Will this courage be shown in the states of South India?&#8221;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">If Hindi is imposed…</h2>



<p>Raj Thackeray warned that Hindi textbooks used in schools will not be allowed to be sold in shops, nor will they be allowed to be given to students in schools. He is warning the school administration. The compulsory teaching of the Hindi language from the first standard in Maharashtra will not be tolerated. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will stop it at all costs. If there is a conflict on this issue, the government alone will be responsible for the consequences.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What did CM Fadnavis say?</h2>



<p>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, &#8220;We are implementing the new education policy under which we are trying to ensure that everyone here learns other languages of the country along with Marathi. I think this is being done to realise the central government&#8217;s idea that there should be a link language across the country. We had earlier decided that Marathi would be compulsory here, but along with this, everyone can learn English, Hindi and other languages.&#8221;</p>



<p>It remains to be seen what steps the Maharashtra government will take after the MNS warning. But it is certain that the language dispute has once again brought political turmoil to Maharashtra.</p>

<p> <strong>Jaipur:</strong> Despite the scorching heat and rising temperatures in the state, the High Court on Thursday ordered the <i>suo moto</i> registration of a public interest litigation (PIL) for the lack of measures to save people&#8217;s lives from heatstroke, despite a court order issued 10 months ago.</p>



<p>Expressing strong displeasure at the attitude of the officials, the court stated that the court&#8217;s directives issued last year were shelved. This raises questions about the rule of law. Officials consider themselves above the law, but the court cannot sit idly by. Humans cannot be treated like animals, nor can the excuse of a lack of funds to save lives be accepted.</p>



<p>The court directed the Chief Secretary to form a coordination committee to implement court orders and to create an action plan to prevent heatstroke. Notices were issued to the Union Home Ministry, the Chief Secretary, the National Disaster Management Authority, and 10 officials from the central and state governments, seeking a response. Further, all collectors were asked to submit compliance reports by April 24 regarding the directives issued to save lives from heatstroke.</p>



<p>Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand, on Thursday, took <i>suo moto</i> cognisance of the heatwave and climate change and ordered the registration of a public interest litigation. The court noted that temperatures in several districts of the state reach 50.5 degrees Celsius, and the situation is worsening daily.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Heatstroke Deaths a Serious Public Health Challenge</h2>



<p>The court described deaths due to heatstroke as a serious public health challenge. It stated that officials cannot be allowed to shirk their duties. Considering the inaction as serious negligence, the court said that if the orders are not complied with, strict action will be taken. The court noted that no action plan was made, nor any effort was made, for 10 months after the court order.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Court: Why Not Issue These Directives?</h2>



<p>-Plant trees on both sides of roads and develop green public spaces.<br>-The Heat and Cold Wave Prevention Bill, 2015, should be enacted and implemented as an effective law.<br>-Workers working in the open should be allowed rest from 12 pm to 3 pm.<br>-ORS, aam panna (mango drink), and drinking water should be provided for humans and animals.<br>-Arrangements for heatstroke treatment should be ensured at health centres.<br>-Alerts should be issued through SMS, FM radio, mobile apps, and social media.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Court Seeks Cooperation From</h2>



<p>The court asked Additional Solicitor General R.D. Rastogi, Additional Advocate General Bhuvnesh Sharma, G.S. Gill, Kapil Prakash Mathur, Sandeep Taneja, and Vijayan Shah, along with advocates Sushil Daga, Kunal Jaiman, and Tribhuvan Narayan Singh, to cooperate with the court in this matter.</p>

MP Nursing Scam: 70 Doctors and Nurses Served Notices, Principal Removed


<p><strong>MP Nursing Scam:</strong> The Department of Health and Medical Education has taken major action in the nursing scam. Radhika Nair, the principal of the government nursing college at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, has been removed from her post. Leela Nalvanshi has been given the responsibility of principal in her place. Charge sheets have been issued against more than 12 nursing staff and doctors from GMC, along with 70 people across the state, and departmental inquiries have been ordered. These include the doctors and nursing staff who were part of the teams verifying nursing colleges. </p>



<p>Many colleges were given reports stating they were suitable, even though they did not meet the criteria. Later, an investigation by a High Court committee found these colleges unsuitable.</p>



<p>It may be noted that in May 2024, the CBI declared 169 unsuitable nursing colleges (MP Nursing Scam) in the state as suitable. This included four colleges in the capital city that lacked their own building, labs, and hospitals. The High Court questioned the investigation and ordered a review of all suitable colleges. The government subsequently cancelled the recognition of 66 nursing colleges.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Allegations of Protecting the Guilty</strong></h2>



<p>Ravi Parmar, the state vice-president of NSUI, has alleged an attempt to protect several accused officials and employees. A year ago, the then Medical Education Commissioner issued notices to approximately 110 nursing staff and doctors, but charge sheets have only been issued against 70. A warning has been given that if impartial action is not taken in the case and all the guilty are not punished, NSUI will launch a state-wide agitation.</p>

<p><strong>NEET PG 2025:</strong> The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the registration notification for NEET PG 2025 on 17 April. The last date to apply online is 7 May 2025. All candidates can apply online until 11:55 PM on 7 May. The NEET PG exam will be held on 15 June, and the result will be released on 15 July.</p>

<p>The NEET PG exam is being conducted in two shifts on 15 June. Despite student protests, the NBEMS is conducting the NEET PG exam in two shifts. Every year, around two lakh MBBS graduates participate in the NEET PG exam.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Essential condition for admission</h2>



<p>All MBBS students must fulfil the internship requirements for admission. Students must complete their internship after the course. Students will not be considered eligible for the NEET PG exam without completing their internship. The deadline for completing the internship for all NEET PG candidates is set for 31 July 2025.</p>


<p>NEET PG 2025: The NEET PG examination is scheduled for 15 June in two shifts. Student protests have arisen in response to this scheduling, however, no official information has yet been released by the NBEMS.</p>

<p>The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the JEE Main 2025 Session-2 results soon. Candidates can check their results and scorecards on the NTA&#8217;s official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, using their application number and date of birth. The JEE Mains Session-2 result was scheduled for release on 17 April but is yet to be published. On the evening of 17 April, around 6 pm, the NTA uploaded the final answer key to the website, but it was removed within two and a half hours. In the released answer key, two physics questions were removed, although experts had objected to a total of nine questions.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">JEE Mains Final Result: Expected Cut-off</h2>



<p>After the release of the final answer key, candidates were expecting the results. It is now anticipated that the results may be declared at any time. A higher number of students participated in the exam this time, leading to expectations of an increased cut-off. According to experts, the cut-off for the General Category could be between 93 and 95 percentile, which is approximately 85-90 marks (out of 300). For the OBC-NCL and EWS categories, the cut-off is estimated to be between 91 and 93 percentile, or approximately 80-85 marks. For the SC category, it could be between 82 and 86 percentile, and for the ST category, between 73 and 80 percentile, which would be around 50 to 65 marks.</p>

<p>The JEE Main Session-2 BE/B.Tech (Paper-I) exam was conducted on 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8 April 2025. This exam was held at 531 centres located in 285 cities across India and 15 cities abroad.
