
<p><strong>India&#8217;s Test Matches in WTC 2025-2027:</strong> Following a 3-1 series defeat against Australia, the Indian team has been eliminated from the World Test Championship (WTC) final. This marks the third consecutive time India has missed out on a place in the final. The next WTC cycle will commence in July, and its official schedule has been announced.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Indian Team to Play 9 Matches at Home and 9 Abroad</h2>



<p>In the WTC 2025-27, the Indian team will play a total of 18 Test matches across six series. Nine of these matches will be played at home, and nine will be played abroad. Each team in the WTC plays six series, three at home and three away. India will play series at home against the West Indies, South Africa, and Australia. Away matches will be played against England, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Campaign to Begin with England Tour in June</h2>



<p>India will commence its campaign with a tour of England in June, playing a five-match Test series. This will be followed by a two-match home series against the West Indies in October and a two-match series against South Africa visiting India in November.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Matches Against Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and England</h2>



<p>In August 2026, India will tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series, followed by a two-match series in New Zealand. Finally, in January-February 2027, India will host Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).</p>

Anand first became a Member of Parliament for Oakville in 2019, representing the Liberal Party. In the Trudeau government, she held the portfolios of Public Services and Procurement, National Defence, and chaired the Treasury Board. Since 2024, she has been responsible for the Ministries of Transport and Internal Trade.</p>

<p><strong>ICC Test Batsman Ranking:</strong> The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest Test bowler rankings on Wednesday. Indian vice-captain and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top. Bumrah took 32 wickets at an excellent average of 13.06, bowling 151.2 overs in the five-match Test series played against Australia. He remains at number 1 with 908 rating points. He has become the first Indian bowler to achieve 908 rating points.</p>



<p>In the rankings released last week, Bumrah achieved 907 rating points, surpassing the all-time Indian rating points record of veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin&#8217;s best rating was 904, which he achieved in December 2016. Apart from Bumrah, spinner Ravindra Jadeja is the other Indian bowler in the top 10. Jadeja is in 9th position with 745 rating points.</p>



<p>Fast bowler Scott Boland, who forced the Indian batsmen to kneel in the Sydney Test, has jumped 29 places to make it into the top 10. He is jointly ninth with Jadeja with 745 rating points. Boland took 10 wickets for 86 runs in the Sydney Test.</p>



<p>Australia&#8217;s captain Pat Cummins is in second place with a one-place gain. Cummins has 841 rating points. South Africa&#8217;s Kagiso Rabada also gained one place and is in third place with 837 rating points. Borewell Accident: 22-Year-Old Woman in Rajasthan Loses Fight for Life After Falling into Borewell; Had Argued with Fiancé Over Phone


<p><strong>Gujarat Borewell Accident:</strong> 22-year-old Indra Meena, who fell into a 540-foot-deep borewell in Kandherai village, Bhuj tehsil, Kutch district on Monday, ultimately lost her battle for life after a 32-hour struggle.</p>



<p>The Kutch district administration, police, fire brigade, and NDRF teams were involved in the rescue operation. Although she was eventually pulled out of the borewell, the medical team at the hospital declared her dead upon arrival.</p>



<p>Teams, including the Kutch District Collector, arrived at the scene immediately after receiving reports of Indra&#8217;s fall into the 540-foot-deep borewell at 6 am on Monday. During the rescue operation, late Monday night, when only 60 feet remained to reach her, she slipped back into the borewell after becoming detached from the rescue equipment.</p>



<p>After twice reaching a distance of 100 feet within 30 hours, she slipped back down to 500 feet, making the rescue extremely challenging. Finally, the rescue teams succeeded in pulling her out on Tuesday, but were unable to save her life.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Teams toiled for 32 hours</h2>



<p>In addition to the NDRF, the BSF, Army, Disaster Fire Department, and local administration worked for 32 hours to rescue Indra. After receiving information about Indra&#8217;s fall into the borewell on Monday morning, local administration and fire brigade rescue teams used a camera to identify the depth. Over 20 attempts were made using various equipment until 5 p.m. The NDRF team arrived at 5 p.m. and took over the rescue operation.</p>



<p>A pall of grief has descended over Kandherai village following the incident. Indra, originally from Talaipal village in Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan, had come to Kutch district with her family to work in paddy fields.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mobile phone found with the young woman in the borewell</h2>



<p>Police investigations revealed that the borewell was closed and covered with a heavy stone. An investigation is underway to determine who removed the stone, how it was removed, and how the young woman fell into it. Family members have also been questioned. Indra&#8217;s mobile phone was found with her inside the borewell.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Argument with fiance over phone</h2>



<p>Preliminary police investigations suggest that the young woman had a phone argument with her fiancé, Eshwar, who resides in Rajasthan, before the incident. Other family members were also informed about this.</p>

<p>Located at 9A, Kotla Road, the new office will open at 10 am on 15 January, marking a historic moment for the party&#8217;s legacy spanning over 139 years. <p>The Congress party&#8217;s journey as a political entity began on 28 December 1885. Since then, the party has had several headquarters. Initially, Anand Bhawan in Allahabad was designated as the party headquarters in 1931, which was later shifted to 7 Jantar Mantar Road, Delhi, after independence. In 1971, the party office moved to 5 Rajendra Prasad Road. After the Emergency in 1977, Indira Congress established a new headquarters in January 1978 at 24 Akbar Road. The Congress headquarters has remained at this location until today.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">400 Top Leaders Invited</h2>



<p>The release stated that around 400 top leaders have been invited to attend the ceremony, including Congress Working Committee (CWC) members, permanent and special invitees, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) presidents, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, AICC secretaries, joint secretaries and heads of departments and cells. <p><strong>HMPV Virus:</strong> HMPV is considered more dangerous for children. This was revealed after a study following the confirmation of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) cases in two children suffering from bronchopneumonia in Karnataka. A report by the Cleveland Clinic states that young children and those over 65 are also at higher risk.</p>



<p>Commenting on this, the Indian Ministry of Health stated that it is a globally spreading virus. Its impact is more visible in people with weak immunity. It can also be fatal for young people.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Adults over 65 years of age are at risk</h2>



<p>While children are at risk of HMPV, it can also affect adults over 5 years of age. Those with weakened immune systems are also susceptible. The report says that when someone contracts HMPV for the first time, it can make them seriously ill. The report also states that young children and adults over 65 are more susceptible to serious respiratory symptoms such as bronchiolitis and pneumonia.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The government is closely monitoring the situation: J.P. Nadda</h2>



<p>Following the emergence of Human Metapneumovirus cases in India, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda stated that the government is closely monitoring the situation and there is no cause for concern. He further stated that HMPV is not a new virus. J.P. Nadda further stated that it was first identified in 2001 and is spreading worldwide. He explained that HMPV spreads through the air via respiration.</p>



<p>Nadda urged people of all age groups to remain vigilant, stating that it can affect people of any age. Health officials reported on Monday that two more children in Karnataka, one infant in Gujarat, and two children in Tamil Nadu have been found infected with HMPV.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Symptoms </h2>



<p>Symptoms similar to a cold appear within 3 to 6 days of exposure to HMPV infection. However, in severe cases, this virus can cause complications such as bronchitis or pneumonia. Common symptoms may include cough, fever, nasal congestion, and difficulty breathing.</p>

<p>The renowned lyricist and screenwriter, Manoj Muntashir, has issued an ultimatum to the filmmakers, threatening legal action. The controversy began when the &#8216;Sky Force&#8217; team failed to credit Manoj Muntashir for writing the upcoming song, &#8216;Maaye&#8217;.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Reason for the Outrage</h2>



<p>The teaser of the song was released on social media yesterday. Jio Cinema shared the teaser of &#8216;Maaye&#8217; on Twitter and other social media platforms. The song is sung by B Praak and composed by Tanishk Bagchi. While both B Praak and Tanishk Bagchi were credited in the post, Manoj Muntashir was completely omitted.</p>

<p>Manoj Muntashir expressed anger over the omission and issued a warning to the filmmakers, Jio Cinema, Maddock Films, and Saregama Global regarding possible legal action. His displeasure was shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he addressed the issue directly, emphasising his dedication to the song&#8217;s creation.</p>



<p>It was further written by him that omitting the lyricist&#8217;s name from the initial credits was a display of gross disrespect towards the film. It was stated that the craft and fraternity had been wronged by the producers. A warning was issued that if this issue was not rectified immediately, including in the main song released the following day, the song would be disowned, and the matter would be pursued through the law. The act was described as shameful, with the message also directed at @IPRSmusic.</p>

<p>Despite Jasprit Bumrah&#8217;s historic performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, his inability to bowl in the second innings of the Sydney Test match due to injury has drawn criticism from former Indian cricketer Balwinder Sandhu. They bowl in three or four spells within those overs. Today, you have good physios, good masseurs, excellent doctors who take care of your body. Despite this, if a bowler can&#8217;t even bowl 20 overs in an innings, he should forget about playing for India.&#8221;</p>



<p>He emphasised that representing India requires the ability to bowl at least 20 overs in an innings. &#8220;If you can&#8217;t do that, you should forget about playing for India and play T20 cricket, where you only have to bowl 4 overs, which are also bowled in three spells.&#8221; The former fast bowler recalled, &#8220;We used to bowl 20-30 overs a day. Kapil Dev bowled long spells throughout his career. When you bowl consistently, your muscles get stronger, so I don&#8217;t agree with the concept of workload management.&#8221;</p>
