<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Russia Stands with India</h2>



<p>In the wake of the Pahalgam attack, Russia has pledged its full support to India in the fight against terrorism. Russian President Vladimir Putin telephoned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and stated that Russia stands shoulder to shoulder with India. The Ministry of External Affairs stated, ‘President Putin reaffirmed Russia’s full support to India in the fight against terrorism. Putin stressed that those guilty of this heinous attack and their supporters must be brought to justice.’</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Targeting Civilians Unacceptable: Guterres</h2>



<p>United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, referring to the Pahalgam attack, stated that targeting innocent civilians is unacceptable. However, without mentioning potential Indian retaliation, he added that military solutions are not a solution. He also offered to help de-escalate rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Guterres made this statement before attending an informal meeting of the UN Security Council called at Pakistan&#8217;s request. This ‘closed-door meeting’ is being convened to consider the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan; however, minutes will not be recorded.</p>

<p>—Amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Bihar: Eight killed in Katihar Road Accident


<p>A devastating road accident occurred in Katihar district, Bihar, in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, resulting in the immediate death of eight people and leaving two others critically injured. The accident took place near the Sameli block office on NH-31 when an SUV collided head-on with a tractor.</p>

<p>Katihar Superintendent of Police, Vaibhav Sharma, confirmed the incident, stating that all passengers were returning from a wedding ceremony. The car contained ten male occupants, believed to be residents of Supaul district. All those killed were travelling in the SUV. The accident caused immediate chaos. Local residents informed the police, who promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to Katihar Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared eight dead.</p>

<p>The two injured individuals remain hospitalised in critical condition. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations and have begun the process of identifying the deceased. Preliminary investigations suggest the tractor driver may have been driving recklessly, leading to the collision; however, a detailed investigation is underway.</p>

<p>This accident once again highlights the dangers of road safety issues and reckless driving in the state. Police have launched a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident and are searching for the tractor driver, who is reported to have fled the scene. <p>The Uttar Pradesh government announced a significant administrative reshuffle late Monday night, transferring 14 IPS officers. The changes include new Superintendents of Police (SPs) for seven districts, along with promotions and new responsibilities for several senior officers.</p>



<p>According to the government order, Raj Karan Nayyar, SP of Ayodhya, has been appointed as the new SP of Gorakhpur. </p>



<p>Dr. Gaurav Grover, the Gorakhpur SSP, will now serve as the SP of Ayodhya. </p>



<p>Sanjay Kumar, SP of Etawah, has been appointed as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Muzaffarnagar.</p>



<p>Abhishek Singh, SSP of Muzaffarnagar, has been promoted to the post of DIG, Saharanpur Range. Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, SP of Kaushambi, is the new SSP of Etawah. Rajesh Kumar Dwitiya , Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Ghaziabad, has been appointed as the new SP of Kaushambi.</p>



<p>Dhawl Jaiswal, SP of Fatehpur, has been appointed as DCP in Ghaziabad. Satyajit Gupta, SP of Sant Kabir Nagar, will now serve as DCP in the Kanpur Police Commissionerate. <p><strong>MP Board Result:</strong> The result of 10th and 12th-grade students under the Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Board has been released. The results of the High School, Higher Secondary, and DPSE main examinations conducted by MPBSE have been declared. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the results at 10:00 AM from his residence. This year&#8217;s results have broken a 15-year record in the Mohan government&#8217;s tenure.</p>



<p>This year&#8217;s results show a 76.2% pass rate for the 10th board (High School) examination and a 74.48% pass rate for the 12th board (Higher Secondary) examination. Girls have once again topped both the 10th and 12th-grade examinations.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">10th and 12th Toppers</h2>



<p>Starting with the 10th-grade results, Pragya Jaiswal from Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh, topped the 10th board exams, achieving a perfect score of 500 out of 500. In the 12th-grade results, Priyal Dwivedi from Satna district secured first place with 492 out of 500. Narsinghpur district achieved the highest pass percentage at 91%.</p>

<p>Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced the results. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Don&#8217;t Be Discouraged by Low Marks or Failure</h2>



<p>Students who received low marks or failed the examination need not be discouraged. They will have another opportunity to take the exam. Students who failed the main exam can retake it in July. This decision was made under the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP2020).</p>

<p>Indigo Airlines has temporarily suspended its direct flight service between Lucknow and Srinagar from 6 May 2025. The service, which commenced on 30 March 2025, has been suspended due to low passenger numbers and financial losses. The airline will reassess the demand for this route by June and then decide whether to permanently discontinue or resume the service. </p>

<p>Initially, bookings for this flight were fully booked. However, following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, passenger numbers dropped significantly. While previously the 180-passenger capacity flight used to be full, recently only 35 passengers were travelling, resulting in financial losses for the airline.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fare and Travel Time</h2>



<p>This direct flight from Lucknow to Srinagar took approximately two hours, and the fare on normal days ranged between ₹6,000 and ₹8,000. However, following the Pahalgam attack, the fare for flights arriving from Srinagar increased to ₹25,000, further reducing passenger numbers.</p>

The airline will survey the demand for this route by June. If passenger numbers do not improve, this service will be permanently discontinued. Previously, the only direct flight service between Lucknow and Nagpur was also discontinued on 29 March.</p>

<p>Recent terrorist attacks in Kashmir have negatively impacted tourism. This is not only causing losses for airlines but also affecting the local tourism industry. The government and airlines need to collaboratively develop strategies to enhance security and promote tourism.</p>

<p>Weather News: Rajasthan has been experiencing a spell of dust storms and rain for the past three to four days. A weather alert has been issued for the entire state for a third consecutive day today, warning of strong winds and heavy rain across more than half of Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for 17 districts and a yellow alert for 16 districts. A warning of dust storms and rain has been issued for all 33 districts. According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of a western disturbance is expected to continue in the southern and eastern parts of the state for the next 4-5 days. Meanwhile, temperatures have dropped across all districts due to the dust storms and rain.</p>

<p>The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Ajmer, Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Tonk, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, and Sri Ganganagar. These districts have been warned of strong winds along with rain. Wind speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour are expected.</p>

<p>However, Millena&#8217;s condition worsened within days. By 26 April, she was unable to walk. Despite this, after returning to the hospital, Millena was discharged again. On 28 April, she fell in the bathroom. Millena Brandão was rushed to the hospital by her parents, where she was admitted. The following morning, she suffered her first cardiac arrest. A CT scan revealed a 5-centimetre mass in her brain. Due to the absence of a neurologist, doctors were unable to determine if it was a tumour, cyst, or blood clot. During her hospital stay, Millena experienced 13 cardiac arrests and multiple respiratory difficulties.</p>

Many students leaving examination centres expressed disappointment, citing the challenging nature of the paper. Some found Physics particularly difficult, while others struggled with Chemistry.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Cutoff Dependent on Paper Difficulty</h2>



<p>The NEET UG exam is held annually for admission to MBBS courses. This year, approximately 2.3 million students applied, hoping to pursue a career in medicine. Now, the focus shifts to the cutoff, which is expected to be significantly influenced by the paper&#8217;s difficulty.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Physics Section Deemed Difficult</h2>



<p>Many private coaching institutes that prepare students for the NEET UG exam concur that this year&#8217;s paper was exceptionally challenging. Some questions were so difficult that even teachers found them hard to solve. This made the paper particularly tough for first-time test takers. Many believe the Physics section was especially demanding, compounded by the relatively short duration of the exam.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">720-Mark Paper</h2>



<p>The NEET paper is worth 720 marks, comprising 180 questions. Students receive 4 marks for each correct answer, with a penalty of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. The NTA will award 4 marks for any questions found to be incorrect.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">2.3 Million Applicants</h2>



<p>This year&#8217;s NEET UG exam was held on 4th May across more than 5,000 centres in over 550 cities nationwide. Approximately 2.3 million students registered, with around 2 million appearing for the exam.</p>
