Rajasthan: 10 districts marked &#39;sensitive&#39;, electric sirens to be installed, Pakistani SIMs banned in Jaisalmer


<p>Life has returned to normal in the border districts following the India-Pakistan ceasefire. From Tuesday, daily life has resumed its usual course. Markets opened and closed as per their regular schedule. Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has classified 10 districts of the state as sensitive, considering the possibility of air strikes. Furthermore, following Sri Ganganagar, the use of Pakistani local SIM cards has also been banned in Jaisalmer.</p>



<p>The Union Home Ministry has directed the installation of electric sirens at prominent locations in the border districts (Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ganganagar, Jodhpur) as well as in Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Kota, and Ajmer. In the event of an attack, these sirens will be operated from a centralized control room. This is mentioned in the guidelines issued by the Civil Defence Directorate.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Flights Resume from Jodhpur Airport</h2>



<p>Schools, colleges, universities, Anganwadi centres, and coaching centres in Bikaner, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Sri Ganganagar reopened on Tuesday. Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Kishangarh (Ajmer) airports resumed operations on Tuesday. However, no flights operated from Jodhpur and Bikaner on Monday.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, Star Air has resumed flights from Kishangarh airport to six cities including Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Hindan, Nanded, and Bengaluru. Flights from Jodhpur to various cities also commenced today.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Drone Activity May Increase in the Coming Days</h2>



<p>Senior army officials informed villagers during a training session that drone activity from our neighbouring country may increase in the coming days. We must remain prepared to deal with this at all times. Ordinary citizens should be aware of how drones work and the potential advantage they offer to enemy nations. If anyone sees a suspicious object resembling a drone, they should immediately inform the BSF Intelligence.</p>

<p><strong>Jaipur: </strong>Sawai Mansingh Stadium received a bomb threat for the fourth time on Wednesday. The repeated bomb threats have put the police and administration on high alert, leading to increased security measures at the stadium.</p>



<p>Following the bomb threat, the Sports Council informed senior police officials. Immediately after receiving the information, the Sports Council evacuated all its employees and other individuals from the stadium. Police, ATS, dog squad, and bomb squad teams arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough search. No explosive materials have been found so far.</p>



<p>The stadium also received threats on Monday and Tuesday. A previous email claimed that a bomb had been successfully planted in the stadium and a major explosion would soon follow. A similar threat was also made on 8 May.</p>

<p><strong>BR Gavai Next CJI:</strong> Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai (BR Gavai) took oath as the 52nd Chief Justice of India at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The appointment of Justice Gavai as the CJI not only highlights his hard work and dedication but also brings to light his inspiring life journey. Justice Gavai, initially interested in architecture, embarked on a legal career due to his father&#8217;s inspiration and a pivotal piece of advice that changed the course of his life. Let&#8217;s explore the advice his father gave him that propelled him from aspiring architect to the nation&#8217;s top judge.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">From Architecture to Law</h2>



<p>Justice Gavai was born on 24 November 1960 into a middle-class family in Amravati, Maharashtra. His father, Ramkrishna Gavai, a lawyer and social activist, always encouraged his son to dream big and contribute significantly to society. Justice Gavai initially showed an interest in architecture and dreamt of a career in that field. However, his father offered advice that altered the trajectory of his life.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">His Father&#8217;s Words</h2>



<p>In an interview, Justice Gavai recounted his father&#8217;s words: “One day, you will become the CJI, but to achieve this, you must walk the path of hard work, honesty, and social responsibility. Law is a profession where you can not only build your own identity but also deliver justice to the vulnerable sections of society.” This advice profoundly impacted the young Bhushan. He abandoned his architectural aspirations, pursued legal studies, and obtained his LLB degree from Nagpur University in 1980.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Father&#8217;s Advice and Social Responsibility</h2>



<p>Justice Gavai&#8217;s father, Ramkrishna Gavai, was not only a lawyer but also a prominent social activist working for the upliftment of the Dalit community. He instilled in his son the understanding that the legal profession is not merely a means of earning money but a powerful tool for bringing about societal change. This lesson from his father motivated Justice Gavai not only to excel in law but also to dedicate himself to social justice.</p>

<p>His father also said, “Becoming CJI is no small feat, but you must never compromise your principles.” Justice Gavai made this advice the guiding principle of his life. He began his legal practice and started practicing at the Bombay High Court in 1987, where he established his expertise in criminal and constitutional law.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Six-Month Term</h2>



<p>Justice Gavai, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, will now lead the nation&#8217;s highest judicial system. His tenure will be six months, ending on 23 November 2025, upon reaching the age of 65. During this time, his role will be to provide direction on significant cases related to constitutional and social justice, as he has done throughout his career. His career includes contributions to landmark decisions such as demonetisation, Article 370, and electoral bonds, reflecting his legal acumen and impartiality. In this brief six-month term, Justice Gavai will face the challenge of maintaining stability and continuity within the judicial system. His appointment is considered a significant step in the judicial field, further empowering the values of equality and justice within India&#8217;s diverse society.</p>

<p>In the near-warlike situation between India and Pakistan, the Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet emerged as a ‘war hero’ during Operation Sindoor. Being approximately one and a half times larger than other aircraft, including the Rafale, it easily came onto the Pakistani radar system. Despite this, the Sukhoi evaded China&#8217;s PL-15E beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missiles and HQ-9BE surface-to-air missiles (SAMs).</p>



<p>The Sukhoi destroyed both missile systems, which constituted Pakistan&#8217;s biggest air defence. After attacking terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK on 6 May, the Sukhoi launched a BrahMos missile attack on Pakistan on the morning of 10 May, proving to be a game-changer. This BrahMos strike destroyed three of Pakistan&#8217;s strategically important airbases. Sources suggest this devastating attack forced Pakistan&#8217;s DGMO to seek a ceasefire.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How the Sukhoi Became a Hero</h2>



<ol>
<li><strong>*</strong> On the night of 6-7 May, the Sukhoi-30MKI, along with Rafale and Mirage-2000 aircraft, attacked Pakistani launch pads. In response, Pakistani JF-17s equipped with PL-15E missiles and HQ-9BEs attacked Indian Air Force fighter jets. The Sukhoi used high-G manoeuvres and ECM, rapidly changing flight direction and speed to deceive the missiles.</li>



<li><strong>*</strong> In a reported encounter near Bhatinda, Pakistani JF-17s fired PL-15E missiles at the Sukhoi, locking onto it. The Sukhoi broke the lock using a barrel roll and its EL/M-6222 pod, jamming the Pakistani missile&#8217;s sensors.</li>



<li><strong>*</strong> In Kashmir, the Sukhoi deceived the Pakistani HQ-9BE radar by flying at low altitude, avoiding radar detection.</li>
</ol>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Still a Frontline Aircraft</h2>



<p>Before the arrival of the Rafale, the Sukhoi-30 was India&#8217;s primary frontline aircraft. While it is a 4th generation fighter jet and the Rafale is a 4.5 generation fighter jet, its electronic warfare capabilities and its ability to change speed and direction in the air have once again established it as a frontline aircraft.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Squadron in Jodhpur</h2>



<p>A squadron of Sukhoi-30s is stationed at Jodhpur, a key strategic airbase in western Rajasthan. After the Pulwama attack, Sukhoi aircraft moved from backup airbases to frontline airbases to counter Pakistan. Sukhoi aircraft from Jodhpur airbase played a role in the BrahMos missile attack.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upgrade Planned for Next Year</h2>



<p>The Indian Air Force, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, and DRDO may begin a plan next year to upgrade the Sukhoi-30. This will involve installing advanced systems to make it a 4.5 generation aircraft.</p>


<p>Despite being detected by Pakistani radar, the Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet successfully engaged and neutralised PL-15E and HQ-9BE missiles, achieving significant success by destroying three Pakistani air bases.</p>

<p><strong>MP News:</strong> Indore, a city in Madhya Pradesh, is preparing to become a model for digital governance. The Municipal Corporation will soon launch schemes such as digital addresses for every house, an on-demand garbage collection app, and an integrated citizen portal. Under this, every house will be given a unique digital identity, which, when scanned, will provide information on property tax, birth-death certificates, garbage collection, and other services.</p>



<p>However, while the Mayor and Municipal Corporation officials claim to be implementing these plans soon, the corporation&#8217;s existing digital services are already in a state of disrepair. The e-Nagarpalika portal has been incomplete and struggling with data inconsistencies for two years.</p>

<p>The Municipal Corporation has started the &#8216;Every House Digital Address&#8217; scheme as a pilot project in Ward 82. Under this scheme, a sheet is being affixed to the outside of each house, bearing a unique QR code. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pawandeep Rajan Will Be Unable to Walk for Six Weeks</h2>



<p>Sources close to Pawandeep Rajan have reported that he was shifted from the ICU to a regular room three days ago. While initially unable to get up, he is now recovering quickly. He is undergoing physiotherapy but will be unable to walk for the next six weeks. He is expected to be discharged from the hospital in the next seven to eight days.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pawandeep Rajan&#8217;s Accident on May 5th </h2>



<p>Pawandeep Rajan&#8217;s accident occurred last Monday, May 5th, while travelling from Uttarakhand to Noida. His car collided with a truck on the highway in Gajraula, Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. His driver, Rahul Singh, and a friend, Ajay Mehra, were also injured in the accident. All three were admitted to the hospital by the police, after which Pawandeep Rajan was transferred to Fortis Hospital in Noida.</p>
